Searching For a Male Child Episode Fourteen

After confronting Eberechi at the supermarket that night, Okenwa went home to think. He thought that Eberechi and her children would be stranded after he pushed them away from his house. He even thought Eberechi would kneel down to cry and beg him. He was surprised when she did not beg but left the house silently with her children. But what broke his heart greatly was when he discovered that Eberechi actually owns a supermarket. He was sad that she was making progress without him. Okenwa kept wondering where Eberechi saw the money she used to open a supermarket.

"I'm so sad. How can she be happy without me? And she is actually moving forward with her life as if I don't exist. I was thinking she will run back to beg me that night after I pursued her with the eight children. How is she able to feed the eight children? Where did she see money to pay their school fees? was thinking she will be miserable but she is actually happy. Eberechi is even looking more fresh than she was when she was in my house. I'm so sad that she is happy without me." Okenwa said. He was in bed trying to sleep just after he finished eating bread and tea.

Okenwa's house has turned into a boring place. There were no longer children who played around and made joyful noise. Eberechi was no longer there. It was just him alone. The loneliness was beginning to weigh him down and he was planning to do something about it. He has decided not to marry another woman.

"I will not marry another wife. It will be a disgrace because my working device is no longer functioning. I cannot bring another woman into the house to come and disgrace me. But I don't want to live alone for the rest of my life. This house is too lonely. I need children here. How can I have children and still be lonely?" Okenwa said to himself.

One part of his heart was telling him to go and beg Eberechi, the other part was telling him to forget about her.

"She is now a supermarket owner, making her own money. I wonder what that man is doing with her. How can another man push me away from my wife's supermarket? That man may have helped her to open the supermarket. She is

making money now. If I go to beg her, she may not agree to accept me back. Also, my lawyer has submitted the case file for our divorce. What am I going to do now?" Okenwa asked himself. He was sad and confused without knowing how to deal with the situation.

"I have to swallow my pride. I have to go back and beg her. If I allow my wife to go, she might marry that man and then my children will start answering his name. She might even get pregnant for him and bear a male child. I will be so sad if I'm alive and my wife gets married to another man. I don't want that to happen. I'm going to act fast to prevent it. I will visit her in the supermarket tomorrow and beg her to forgive me. It is difficult but I will swallow my pride and do it." Okenwa said as he finally fell asleep.

In the morning, he suspended every appointment he had and decided to dedicate the whole of that day to Eberechi. It was just like he was preparing for their first date. He wore his best clothes, sprayed perfume and drove his jeep to the supermarket where he saw Eberechi helping her staff to attend to customers. He sent someone to call Eberechi.

"Madam, someone is calling you. The person is outside. He is inside jeep. He said he will just talk to you briefly." One of the sales girls tells Eberechi.

"Who is the man?" Eberechi asked.

"I don't know him ma "The sales girl responded.

Eberechi assumed that the man looking for her was Alozie, so she went outside with her innocent heart. As she was walking outside, she was surprised to see her husband kneeling down with a bunch of flowers in his hand.

"What is going on?" Eberechi asked with surprise on her face. Okenwa was kneeling down respectfully like a slave in front of his master. Eberechi has never seen him that way. In fact, this was a man who has never apologized to her before. Even to say 'I'm sorry' is always very difficult for Okenwa. And to think that he was kneeling down before her was so shocking.

"Why are you kneeling down in front of my shop? I hope you have not come here to drop charms? If you dropped charms here, you should quickly pick it and leave." Eberechi said.

Some shoppers and passersby were watching Okenwa as he started talking.

"I did not come to drop charms. Instead, I have come to beg you. I have come to plead with you to return home and remain my wife. I thought I was taking the wise decision by pushing you away, but I have realized that was just foolish. I was foolish to push you away. I was foolish to push my children away. I was thinking I can do without you but I was lying to myself. I have realised that female children are also good. Please come back home with the children and I promise to treat you rightly. If you return home with my children, I will care for you people with love and affection. I will not disrespect you the way I used to do. Please, forgive my foolish actions. I have realized my mistakes." Okenwa said.

Eberechi was shocked to hear him. She did not say anything. She just turned back and entered the supermarket. However, Okenwa followed her and knelt before her inside the supermarket. A lot of people were watching.

"I will not let you go until you forgive me." Okenwa said with tears in his eyes.
