Searching For a Male Child Episode Ten

Eberechi's supermarket business was moving well. The business had expanded and she had people helping her at the shop. She was no longer hiding the fact that she owns a supermarket in the estate. However, her husband was yet to find out fully that she has a business center where she always go to each morning after dropping her children in school.

As a matter of fact, Eberechi was considering moving out of her husband's house. She thinks it would be good for her to find another place for her and her children to stay. She did not want anything bad to happen to them. Although, Bekee has been sent to prison, Eberechi still feared for her children because she is aware her husband does not like them. That was why she did not want to stay with her husband anymore..

"But I don't know if it is better to divorce him. He has been a thorn on my flesh. After all, he is no longer feeding the children. He is not paying their school fees and he has stopped buying them clothes. My husband no longer gives me money to do anything in the house. We are essentially on our own. I'm the one now feeding and clothing the children. I think it is time to leave his place, but I'm still confused if I should make it a divorce or I should just move out." Eberechi said to herself. She was in her shop reflecting on her life. Her children were also in the shop and they were doing their homework.

"If I divorce him, what is the worst thing that would happen to me? I don't think anything will happen to me. After all, he has proven that he doesn't want me anymore. He has been abusing me. He has been tormenting me as if I'm a slave. Now, I'm financially free. I can run the family without him. I can do my own things. I will seek advice from Mr Alozie. If he advises me to leave my husband, I will do it without looking back. I will visit his house this evening." Eberechi said.

On her way home that night, she branched into Alozie's house. Luckily for her, Alozie was at home.

"How is your business going? And how are your children? I hope you are taking good care of them? Your children should always come first in every decision you are making." Alozie said.

They were in his living room. Eberechi's children were running around the room, enjoying the nice atmosphere.

"I'm trying my best in the business, but I'm confused in one area of my life right now. I don't want to live with my husband anymore. He is very cruel. He brought in another woman as a second wife and she almost harmed my children. She poured them hot water. If not that the water was not all that hot, we all would have been in the hospital by now. I feel like I should leave the house for the safety of my children. Please, can I come and live with you?" Eberechi asked Alozie.

"No way! You can't stay with me. You are still very young and beautiful. If you stay with me, I might be tempted to touch, which is morally wrong. You are beautiful and difficult to resist. You still have a husband. This is why I can't allow you in my house. Wait, how old are you?" Alozie asked.

"I'm 35. I'm still young o! It's my husband that made me to look old. I was much more beautiful than this. He made sure my beauty faded even before I grew old." Eberechi said.

"But you are still very much beautiful considering what you have gone through. But do you really want to divorce your husband? Do you think he has wronged you enough for you to quit the marriage? I want you to think and take the decision on your own. I don't want you to take a decision you will regret in the future. You should also put the future of your children into consideration. So you think your children will be better off if you divorce your husband?" Alozie asked.

"Right now, my husband is basically useless. He has refused to take care of the children. He is no longer feeding us. If not that you gave me money to start a business, hunger would have killed me and my children months ago. But | really want to divorce him. He is not doing anything for me apart from answering my husband." Eberechi responded. She was trying hard not to cry.

"Alright! In that case, I will give you the phone number of my lawyer. Call him tomorrow. He will help you to go to court and find for divorce. Don't worry about the money, I will pay him.

All you have to do is to call him and brief him on your case. He will take it from there." Alozie said. Eberechi was so happy to hear that. She thinks Alozie is an angel sent to her by God.

"How am I going to pay you back for all you are doing for me? You are such a wonderful man. I have never seen a man like you before. Thank you very much sir. I'm so grateful." Eberechi said. She knelt down to thank Alozie.

After then, she and her children went home. When they arrived the house, Okenwa was in the living room waiting for her. Okenwa was holding a paper. He gave the paper to Eberechi who collected it and read. She saw that it was a divorce notice from Okenwa.

"I have decided to end this contraption we call marriage. My lawyer has filed for divorce." Okenwa said. He then went inside the house, packed Eberechi's bags, packed the children's bags and brought them outside.

"You will not stay in my house during the divorce. I'm afraid of you. You damaged my cassava. If I allow you here now, you may spoil the remaining thing I have as a man. Leave my house with your children. After all, I don't want female children. Don't ever contact me. None of your children should ever come close to me." Okenwa said.

Eberechi didn't say anything. She just laughed in her heart. She brought out her phone, ordered an Uber ride. Soon, a taxi arrived to pick her and her children. They went to the supermarket and passed the night.

"This man doesn't know that he has even given me what I want. What I'm looking for in Sokoto, I have seen it in Sokoto. He thinks I will cry and beg him. Never! Let's sleep here, tomorrow, I will just go and rent my own house." Eberechi said to her children.

There was light in the supermarket, everywhere was bright. She joined her children to play around as if nothing happened. The children entered shopping baskets and she pushed them around.

"We are now free. She said.
