Searching For a Male Child Episode Eight

Eberechi was just coming back from her shop that evening when she noticed the presence of a new face in the house. She did not say a word. Instead of wasting her energy to talk, she just passed gently and went into her room. After changing into a casual dress, she stepped out of her room and went to the kitchen to make food for her children. She decided to make tea for them to drink that night because she did not have much energy to spend in the kitchen. She was happy that when she was coming home, she had picked two loaves of bread from her supermarket and that was what her children used that night.

She brought out the cups of tea for the eight children and laid the food for them in the dining table. She was happy to watch them as they ate to their satisfaction. What made her happy was that the food they were eating did not come from her husband. She brought the food from her own hustle. She did not join them to eat because she bought shawarma and suya for herself. She plans to eat it when the children have gone to bed. She did not want anyone to disturb her when she will be eating her suya and showama in the midnight.

As her children were eating, Eberechi noticed that the new wife, Bekee was just watching them like television. It was just like she has not seen children before. She continued looking at them until she drew closer to the dining area to talk to Eberechi. Eberechi did not want to talk to anyone. She has decided to mind her business in the house. Worse comes to worse, she would pack her things and relocate to another apartment with her children. She was happy she could afford it. But she was a bit surprised when the new wife came around the dining table and started talking to her.

"Madam, with this number of children you have given birth to, are you planning to finish my husband's money? How can only you give birth to eight children? Are they all your children or you adopted some of them? If they are all your children, it means you are breeding children like a rat. To make matters worse, none of the children is even a boy. You are just giving birth to female children. What do you plan to use them and do? No wonder, my husband got married to me. He wants me to give him a baby boy. Very soon, I will get pregnant and give him a boy." Bekee said to Eberechi. Her voice was sounding very mischievous.

With the way Bekee was talking to her, Eberechi immediately knew that Bekee was a troublesome young woman who has not seen anything in life. She wanted to take one of the tea cups and pour it on Bekee's face but she decided against the idea. There was no need to fight a young girl who was just starting life in the house of an older husband. Eberechi knew that Bekee would soon learn her lessons when life happens to her. She decided not to say a word. She continued to feed her children silently.

"I'm going to stop you people from going to the kitchen. The food there is not for you and your children. From today going forward, I don't want to see any of your children in the kitchen. I don't want you people to finish my husband's food. The food is for him and me. You people eat a lot. No wonder, my husband's business is no longer doing too well. You are the people eating everything. Just now, you people have finished two loaves of bread. This woman! You and your children are capable of killing any man. I will not allow you people to kill my husband for me. I'm going to stand my ground and protect his wealth. I don't ever want to see any of you in the kitchen again." Bekee said with a mocking voice. Still, Eberchi said nothing.

Bekee was shocked that Eberechi refused to talk back at her. In fact, she had prepared herself to fight with Eberehi if need be, but the fact that she refused to fire back at her killed her spirit. She began to wonder the kind of woman Eberechi was. She became scared of Eberechi, but she did not want to show her fear.

"Apart from the kitchen, I don't want you people to continue to use this dining table. You people are too many. The dining table will collapse if all these eight children occupy it at once. Any time you people want to eat, stay in your rooms. If I ever see any of you around this dining table, you will hear it from me." Bekee shouted. Still, Eberechi did not talk. She continued give her children slices of bread.

"Madam, I'm talking and you are behaving as if you are not hearing me. Are you deaf and dumb? How can I be talking and you people have the audacity to keep quiet as if I'm a foolish person?" Bekee asked with anger in her voice. Eberech did not respond. At that time, the children had finished eating. She took them to wealth. I don't ever want to see any of you in the kitchen again." Bekee said with a mocking voice. Still, Eberchi said nothing.

Bekee asked with anger in her voice. Eberech did not respond. At that time, the children had finished eating. She took them to the bathroom and they took their shower. And then they went to bed. Bekee did not hear any word from Eberechi.

That night, when Bekee was in the bedroom with Okenwa, she told Okenwa what she did to Eberechi using her mouth. Okenwa praised her.

"Continue using mouth to finish her. By the time we are done with her, she will pack all those children and leave this house." Okenwa said. She started touching Bekee with the intention to drink water from her pot. Bekee liked it. She wanted to get pregnant quickly so she could bear a baby boy. Once she bears a baby boy for Okenwa, she would completely take over the house.

However, as Okenwa was touching Bekee, his headquarters did not shake head. He tried everything but the lizard refused to shake head. Bekee tried everything she could but nothing happened.

"Why is your cassava not working? Why is the lizard behaving as if it is dead?" Bekee asked.

"It may be because of the cold. Let us keep trying. The lizard might wake up in the morning.

"Okenwa said with shame in his voice.
