The Man From China Episode Ten

Chin Cheng woke up from his unconscious state and felt confused. He stayed for a long time before he could regain his strength fully. Chin Cheng could not remember exactly why he was at the forest. Due to the fact that he hit his head so hard on the bulldozer, he lost his memory. He suffered a very serious brain damage which made him unable to remember anything. It was like something wiped his memory away. He could not remember anything about his colleagues and he could not remember anything about Adanna. His brain was just a tabula rasa like that of a newborn baby.

"What am I doing here in the front of a forest? Why am here? What happened to me? Why am I sitting in front of bulldozers? I feel pain all over my body, why is that so? What am I doing in this village? Who brought me here and for what purpose? I can't remember anything and there is serious pain in my head. What hit me? Was I involved in any accident?

What happened to me and what am I doing here? I'm so scared in this place. I have to leave now." Chin Cheng said to

himself.

He left the forest and started going down to the village. He walked very fast because of fear. The whole area looked new to him because he

could not remember coming there in the past. Chin Cheng walked swiftly on the narrow village road and as he passed people, he did not speak. He just kept mute and kept walking because even the villagers were new to him even though he had seen some of them before. He entered the village and saw much more people. He kept wondering what brought him to the village, but he remembered nothing.

Chin Cheng could not remember the fact that he is a construction worker who came from China to Nigeria to work. He could not remember that he had stayed in the village for a long time and he could not remember the place he and his colleagues used to stay as a base. He could not remember that he was in love with Adanna and he could not remember that she was pregnant for him. His brain was just like an empty box hanging on his neck. It was a huge problem, but the real problem was that he didn't know he had a problem.

"How am I going to find my way out of this forest? It doesn't like people are living here. I wonder how these people are surviving in a village like this. Everywhere looks bushy. I wonder how I ended up here. I'm really scared and I need help to go. Let me ask questions so that I can get help." Chin Cheng said. He stopped one of the villagers and started asking questions. The first question he asked was where the king's palace was located. He said he wants the protection of the king.

"Please show me where your king stays. I need his help. I want him to protect me. I don't know how I got to this place. I can't remember how I got to this village and I'm really scared for my life. I need you to take me to your king so that he would give his security men orders to protect me against any attacks." Chin Cheng said to the villager who he stopped by the roadside. The villager appeared to have recognized him and wondered why he was asking for direction even though he was supposed to know many places in the village.

"I think I know who you are. You are the man from China. How can you say you don't know the king's palace? know you very well and I have been seeing you in this village for many years. I even heard you got a girl from this village pregnant. So, you know how to get a girl pregnant but you don't know how to find your way to the king's palace? You know how to locate something under Adanna's skirt but you can't find your way around the village? What happened to you? Did someone reset your brain with a hot slap?" The man asked. The man was even laughing.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. How can you say I have been in this village before? Today is my first time coming here. I have never been to this village. I don't know anyone here and I don't remember touching any woman called Adanna. I don't know the direction to the king's palace, please show it to me and stop saying I got a girl pregnant. Take me to the king's palace, I need his protection." Chin Cheng pleaded with the man.

"A few weeks ago, I even heard that the Crown Prince arrested you but you later escaped. I heard he arrested you for getting Adanna pregnant. Adanna was supposed to be his bride, but you got her pregnant. Now, you want to deny it? You also want to walk into the same palace after what you suffered there when you were arrested? I heard that you were poorly treated. Why do you want to go back to the

palace? The Crown Prince will arrest you oh! If I were you, I will run very far away from this village." The man said.

"Take me there, don't worry about the consequences. I have committed no crimes and the Crown Prince will do me nothing." Chin Cheng said. The man agreed and took him to the palace. When they got close to the gate of the palace, he pointed him towards the direction he should follow. Chin Cheng thanked him and left. He was happy to have located the palace. He thinks he would be safe there.

However, when Chin Cheng walked into the palace, the guards recognized him and arrested him.

"This is the man that got Adanna pregnant. He ran away after being arrested." The guards tell the Crown Prince.

"Throw him into the darkest prison. Don't ever release him." The prince said. Chin Cheng was thrown into prison.
