The Man From China Episode 8

Chin Cheng arrived in the village when the sun was already overhead. The sun was hot and his skin was almost burning. He was walking very fast because he did not want the villagers to identify him and possibly report him to the Crown Prince. In fact, he had also used a mask to cover his face so that people would not know he was the one. He did not branch anywhere. He just went straight to where his friends camped at the base. He was lucky that they were yet to go to work that morning.

In fact, all of them, including their overall boss were around. They were surprised to see him and they started asking him questions concerning his whereabouts. They hadn't seen him since the previous day when he told them he was going after his girlfriend. They confessed that they were terribly worried about his well-being but didn't know where to search for him. The overall boss invited Chin Cheng for questioning. He asked him why he hadn't been to work for many days. Instead of telling lies, Chin Cheng opened up to his boss and told him the whole truth.

"I'm in a relationship with a woman from this village. I really love her. I would like to marry her before going back to China.

She is even pregnant for me and I don't want to leave her to suffer alone. I want to give her the good things of life. I don't want my child to lack anything. However, there was a problem, because I discovered that the Crown Prince also wants the same girl. He detained me for many days. He then banished my girlfriend when he discovered that she was pregnant for me. That's why I went to the forest to look for her." Chin Cheng said tearfully.

"I saw a lot of good things that might interest the company. That place is so nice. The villagers call it "evil forest' but they have no idea that it habours beautiful things. I saw rare animals there. I'm recommending that we go there and turn it into a beautiful place to attract tourists. We can charge people money to come there for tourism and they will pay us money to watch the animals in the open forest. Do you know there's a waterfall there? I saw it myself. In fact the place is like heaven." Chin Cheng said. He watched his boss who was busy writing as if he wasn't listening.

"I'm glad you are safe, that is all that matters.

I'm also happy you saw something we could use to make money. I'm going to send some men and construction equipment with you. You people will go to the evil forest and construct a beautiful house there in the form of hotels. However, you people must not destroy the forest. Leave it intact. I will come and see it when you are done." The boss said to Chin Cheng.

In a few minutes, Chin Cheng and his companions set out for the evil forest. The villagers thought they were just going to work as usual, but on that day, they had a different mission to accomplish. After about one hour of riding along the village road, they arrived at the evil forest. Chin Cheng was the one leading the group of construction workers. All their equipment was stationed outside as they walked around briefly and inspected the place. When some of them entered inside the mysterious forest, they marveled at how beautiful it looked inside.

"It's time to move our equipment into the forest and start cleaning the bushes. Clean everywhere I will show you and get it ready for construction. Remember, we are not clearing the whole forest, just some specific portions. Let's go guys. Let's get this done in a few minutes." Chin Cheng said. He was the first person to attempt driving a bulldozer into the forest, but something strange happened.

As he was driving the heavy machine into the forest, the chain got destroyed. Even the heavy scooper attached to the bulldozer cut into tiny pieces. The engine of the bulldozer went off and a lot of smoke started coming out from it.

"What is going on? My bulldozer has never behaved this way since I started construction work. I have been doing this job for many years, and I have never experienced this sort of thing. Look at the bulldozer, it is totally destroyed. It is not even starting again. I wonder what has happened." Chin Cheng said. He invited one of his companions who also had a bulldozer. He asked him to enter the evil forest and start clearing it. The man started the bulldozer and the engine was steaming very well. However, the moment he tried to drive it into the forest, the machine went dead. He tried to start it again, but it refused to answer him.

There was a third person who also had a bulldozer, and he was also told to drive into the forest and start demolishing the trees. When he attempted to enter, a branch from one of tall trees suddenly fell on him from above. He fell off the bulldozer and died instantly. When the Chinese men saw what happened to their colleague, they started running. All of them ran away except Chin Cheng. He could not think of running when Adanna was still in the forest.

"Even if everyone else is running, I will not run. I must enter this forest and build proper house for my fiance and unborn child. I can't leave them behind." Chin Cheng said to himself. He was now the only one there. All his companions have picked race and ran 4-40 after one of them suddenly collapsed and died.

Strangely, when Chin Cheng attempted to walk into the evil forest, an invisible hand pushed him back. In fact, he was pushed so hard that he fell. He hit his head on the bulldozer and he fainted.
