The Man From China Episode Four

It has gotten really dark but Chin Cheng did not care. He was not afraid either. He was ready to risk everything to make sure he finds Adanna that very night. Nothing was going to stop him from going into the evil forest. Some of his friends at the construction base tried to discourage him from going into the bush that same night but he had refused.

"I have to find her. She is the reason I'm alive. She loves me and if I'm the one in trouble, I'm sure she would look for me. I'm going to do everything I can to rescue the love of my life. Nothing is going to stop me, not even the dangerous evil forest. I'm going into the forest tonight and by the time you see me next, you will see me with my fiancée. I love her and I cannot leave her to suffer alone." Chin Cheng said to his friends before dashing into the bush with his back pack.

If outside was dark, the evil forest was darker. The forest was called evil for a reason. No one ever goes there except men who are banishing someone and the person who is being banished. The forest hosts a lot of dangerous animals. People try as much as possible not to have anything to do with the evil forest. Even hunters avoid it. Hunters hunt in all other forests but they never enter the evil forest because they know it hosts dangerous animals. That was the forest Chin Cheng was entering but he was prepared for the worse.

"Whatever is going to happen let it happen. I'm ready to do anything to rescue Adanna. I wonder which part of the forest she is now. I know they must have gone very far before abandoning her. They did not even mind that she has a baby in her womb. These people are heartless. But wherever you are, stay strong for me my love; I'm coming to rescue you." Chin Cheng said. He put on his torchlight and started going deeper and deeper into the evil forest.

The whole place was dark. The torchlight was helping him to find where to put his legs. The bush was thick with tall trees and shrubs. It was rainy season, so the bush was bubbling with a lot of grasses. It was an all-green forest. As he got deeper into the scary forest, Chin Cheng wondered if he should be shouting the name of his girlfriend or he should keep quiet.

"If I shout, I could attract the attention of dangerous animals. But if I don't should, Adanna might not know that I'm here. What should I do right now? I have come to a dangerous place." Chin Cheng wondered as he kept walking very deep into the thick forest. He was pointing his torchlight farther away into thick corners, trying to see if he would find Adanna sleeping or sitting somewhere, but so far, he had found no traces of human being in the forest. All he was hearing were chirpings of insects and night crawlers that were looking for food. He could also hear the hawling of owls perching on the trees above.

"I think I don't have to shout. Let me keep searching for Adanna with my torchlight." Chin Cheng said. He was searching the forest like a hunter hunting for an animal. He was not sure how wide the forest was but he was sure he had come very far and deep. He wondered when he would get to the end of the forest. The dark night did not allow her to see too far.

"This is really a big forest. Maybe, I should have waited till morning before coming. But if I had waited, the prince would have discovered that I ran away and he would rearrests me and thrown me into guardroom and again. I don't want to ever enter that room again. It is better that I'm in the forest than the palace. The prince is very wicked. He might kill me if he lays his hands on me again." Chin Cheng said. As he was walking around the forest and searching for Adanna, he was clutching his little gun, ready to shoot any animal that may come to attack him.

At some points, Chin Cheng got tired and decided to sit down and rest. He found the trunk of a fallen tree and sat down to rest. He was so tired that as soon as he sat down, he started dozing off. He tried as much as possible not to sleep. Soon, he started hearing something like footsteps very close to where he was. It was like someone was coming to meet him. Chin Cheng paid closer attention to the footsteps and wondered if it was an animal or a human that was coming to attack him.

"The footsteps are sounding like those of an animal, but they also sound like it's a human being that is coming here. Who might that be? Is it Adanna?" Chin Cheng asked himself. He positioned his gun and kept it in a ready position. He was ready to shoot anything that would come to attack him. He stood up from the tree trunk and started moving backwards like soldier targeting something. Chin Cheng did not want to be taken unawares by whatever it was that wanted to attack him.

"Who are you? Show your face! If you don't show your face, I will shoot." Chin Cheng warned with a loud voice. He was still moving backwards and holding his gun. Soon, he leaned his back on a large tree and stopped moving.

"I said show your face. Identify yourself or I will shoot." Chin Cheng shouted again, but there was no reply from the direction where the footsteps were coming from. For a moment, there was silence. Chin Cheng thought that whatever was coming to attack him had been scared away. That was his mistake. He put his gun back into his bag. He was only shinning his torchlight around him, but he did not know he was attracting his enemies. Just in a blink of an eye, Chin Cheng saw a group of hyenas surrounding him in a dangerous way. He saw five hyenas and they were ready to attack Chin Cheng. They have seen food for that night.

"My own has finished." Chin Cheng said when he saw the dangerous animals circling him and getting ready to pounce on him.
