Ana stared down at Liana’s outfit, while Liana nervously looked down, clutching the oversized sweater.
“That’s too big for you,” Ana commented.
“I like it,” Liana said, lifting her head. Ana shook her head with a small smile.
“Where’s that big head?” she asked, peeking toward the door.
“Bathroom,” Liana replied.
“Let’s go eat. Let him starve — useless kid,” Ana said, turning around and walking to the kitchen. Liana nervously greeted Mrs. Evans, who smiled warmly in return.
“Where’s Alvin?” Mrs. Evans asked as she placed the last dish on the kitchen table.
Ana rolled her eyes, grabbing a plate and starting to serve herself. “I called them. My voice is gone because of them.”
“What were you two doing in there?” Mrs. Evans asked, turning to Liana, whose cheeks flushed deeply.
“Stu… studying,” she muttered.
Ana glanced at her, trying to stifle a laugh.
Just then, Alvin walked in wearing clothes nearly identical to Liana’s. A smile spread across his face the moment his eyes landed on her.
Mrs. Evans rested her chin on her hand, watching how her son’s face lit up with happiness as he looked at the girl she didn’t yet know.
“Alvin, you little brat!” Ana shouted as Alvin snatched a piece of meat from her plate.
“You’re stingy. You don’t like to share,” Alvin said, chewing the meat with a grin.
Ana glared at him and smacked the back of his head.
“Ow! Ana, why are you abusing me?” he pouted.
“Mom, your daughter!”
“You two need to learn to be quiet while eating,” Mrs. Evans said. “And Ana, stop bullying my child,” she scolded.
Alvin stuck his tongue out at Ana in triumph.

“Ugh, this is so annoying,” Ana said as she continued eating her food. Alvin grinned, satisfied—they always teased each other when their mom was around.
Liana smiled, genuinely enjoying being around them. Their relationship was so warm and full of love. She wished she had something like that too.
She sighed. Alvin noticed and gently placed his hand over hers.
“You okay?” he asked, his voice soft and serious—nothing like the guy who had just been teasing his sister moments ago.
“I’m fine,” Liana replied, giving him a reassuring smile.
Ana and Mrs. Evans exchanged surprised glances, touched by how mature Alvin was becoming. It warmed their hearts to see him growing into a kind, caring person who loved those close to him.
“So, Liana, where are you from?” Ana asked. Alvin shot her a look.
“I stay around here,” Liana replied.
“Where exactly?” Ana pressed.
“Why are you asking her so many questions?” Alvin interrupted.
“Jeez, I’m just curious, okay?” Ana said as she stood up and began clearing the table.
“Can I help you with the dishes?” Liana asked, joining her at the sink.
“You don’t have to, really. Let me do it so I can take you home on time,” Ana replied. Liana nodded with a smile.
“It was nice being here with you guys,” Liana said warmly.
“I feel the same. You should visit more often,” Ana said, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear as she started washing the dishes.
Mrs. Evans was now sitting in the dining room with the TV remote in her hand. Alvin walked over to her and smiled, placing his head on her lap.
“I want you to be around all the time, Mom,” Alvin said as she gently brushed his hair.
“I’m here now, aren’t I? And tell me… do you like that girl?” Mrs. Evans asked, and Alvin nodded with a soft smile.
—
“Very much. She’s the best thing to happen to me right now,”*Alvin said sincerely.
Mrs. Evans nodded thoughtfully. “You’re still young and naive. Don’t do things you’re not supposed to do, okay? Do you hear me, my baby?”
Alvin smiled and nodded. Somehow, he understood what his mother was trying to say.

About thirty minutes later, Ana finished cleaning and washing the dishes. Alvin accompanied Liana to her house.

The next day — Monday: school and work.
Ana woke up early and prepared breakfast for her brother and mother. After she was done, she went back to her room to shower.
She put on a crisp white button-down shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a vibrant red mini skirt, paired with white high heels. After dressing, she sprayed on her perfume, grabbed her laptop bag, and paced briefly before walking out of the room.
In the kitchen, she opened the fridge and took out some orange juice. As she sipped through a straw, she scrolled on her phone.
“Morning, sis,” Alvin said as he walked into the kitchen.
“Morning, baby. Eat your breakfast so we can leave,”Ana replied, her fingers lingering over Milton’s contact.
Alvin groaned—he hated when she called him baby. He wasn’t a baby anymore.
“Be quick. I don’t want to be late,”Ana added, tapping Milton’s number. It rang twice before he picked up.
Ana cleared her throat before speaking.
“Hey… are you okay? You haven’t been in touch since—”
She stopped mid-sentence when she heard a deep groan on the other end.
“Mil, are you okay?”she asked, now fully alert.
“I… f+k. Shit… I’m going… f+k, baby… right there…”
Ana’s eyes widened. Her heart pounded, her hands trembled, and her lips went dry.
“No… is he—”She shook her head in disbelief.
Then came a woman’s voice, m0aning breathlessly:
“Mil… baby… f+k me… hard… yes, yes… yes!”
The line cut.
Ana stood frozen, phone still in hand. Her face was filled with shock, disbelief, and pain.
