The Prince With 10 Brides
The small room in the royal palace was very quiet, but it did not feel empty. It felt like it was full of a special kind of power. Ada was still sitting on the floor, and her voice was like a soft light in the dark. She was singing the last part of her grandmother’s song. The room seemed to vibrate with the power of Ada’s music. It was not a magic spell from a dark book. It was the power of a heart that was honest and kind. As the very last note of the song faded into the air, something wonderful happened. Prince Azu took a long, deep breath. It was the first time he had breathed like a normal man in many weeks. The scary redness left his eyes, and the yellow glow disappeared. The tightness left his muscles, and he stopped shaking like a wild animal. He sat up straight on the floor. He looked down at his hands, which were covered in dirt. He looked at his royal clothes, which were torn and messy. Finally, he looked up at the girl sitting next to him. He saw her kind face and her warm eyes.
Ada? the Prince whispered. His voice was very soft, and it was full of wonder. He sounded like a person waking up from a very long and very bad dream. You stayed? He could not believe that she was there. He knew that he had been scary. He knew that he had been acting like a beast. He remembered the other ladies who had come into the room. He remembered how they screamed and ran away. But Ada was still there. She had not run away. She had stayed to help him. Tears of joy flowed down the King’s face as he watched from the doorway. He did not care about being a King right now. He only cared about being a father. He rushed into the room and hugged his son very tightly. The Prince was finally back. He was hail, hearty, and whole. The dark magic was gone. The knots in his mind had been untied by the song of a girl who truly loved him.
The royal attendants came into the room quickly. They were very happy to see their Prince again. They helped him stand up because he was still a little bit weak. They took him to the royal bathhouse. They used warm water and sweet smelling soaps to clean the dirt from his skin. They brushed his long hair until it was smooth and shiny again. After his long bath, the Prince put on a magnificent new royal robe. It was made of the best blue silk with gold thread at the edges. He looked like a King. He looked strong and wise. When he was ready, he walked out of his room. He did not go to hide in the shadows. He walked with his head held high. He stepped out onto the big palace balcony where the sun was shining.
The whole village of Omalin was gathered below the balcony. Thousands of people were standing there. They had heard that a miracle had happened. They wanted to see if their Prince was really okay. In the very back of the crowd, the ten ladies who had used magic charms were standing together. They were not wearing their bright smiles anymore. They stood in the back, feeling the heavy weight of their disgrace. They knew that everyone would soon know what they had done. They felt very small and very ashamed. They watched as the Prince walked to the edge of the balcony. But he was not alone. Ada was standing right by his side. She was still wearing her simple dress, but she looked more beautiful than any Queen.
Prince Azu stood tall and looked out at his people. He raised his hand, and the crowd became very quiet. People of Omalin, he declared. His voice was strong, and it rang out across the square with newfound wisdom. I have a story to tell you. I was lost in a forest of lies. I was blinded by dark charms and I was tricked by people who wanted power more than they wanted peace. I was not myself. I chose many wives because my mind was not my own. The magic had made me confused. I thought I wanted many things, but I was actually losing everything. He looked at the people and then he looked at the ladies in the back. The ladies looked at the ground because they could not look him in the eye.
The Prince turned to Ada. He took her hand in front of everyone. He did not care that she was a village girl. He did not care that she was not rich. But today, I choose only one, he said loudly. I choose the woman who waited for me when everyone else left. I choose the woman who worked with her hands instead of using secret magic. I choose the woman whose love was strong enough to face my darkest hour without running away. Ada shall be my only Queen. She is the one who saved my life, and she is the one who will rule this kingdom by my side.
The village erupted in cheers. The sound was so loud that it could be heard in the neighboring kingdoms far away. People were dancing and singing. They were so happy that the Prince was well and that he had chosen a girl with a good heart. As for the other ladies, their secrets could not be hidden anymore. The Chief Priest stepped forward. He explained to the whole village how their illegal use of charms had nearly destroyed the kingdom. He told everyone about the powders and the songs they had used to trick the Prince. The people were very shocked. The ladies were not punished with sticks or stones. They were not sent to prison. They were punished with something far worse: the eternal shame of their actions. They had to live with the knowledge that they had tried to steal a heart that did not belong to them. They watched from the sidelines as the wedding of the century took place. It was a beautiful wedding built not on magic powders or lies, but on the solid rock of truth.
The story of Prince Azu and Queen Ada became a legend in Omalin. It was told to every child who was growing up in the village. It was a story for anyone who was tempted to take a shortcut to get what they wanted. The parents told their children about the ten brides who tried to use magic and failed. They told them about Ada, who used only her voice and her kindness. The children learned that patience is not just waiting for something to happen. They learned that patience is the courage to do what is right even when it seems like you are being left behind by everyone else. They learned that truth is the most powerful thing in the world.
The people of Omalin learned a very big lesson that day. They learned that anything gained through manipulation or illegal means will eventually turn to bitter ash in your mouth. If you steal something, you will not be able to enjoy it. If you lie to get a prize, the prize will not bring you happiness. But they also learned that things earned through hard work, honesty, and a pure heart will shine brighter than any gold. Ada had nothing at the start, but she ended up with everything because she was honest and she was legal in her ways. She did not try to skip the hard parts of life. She worked for her love, and that made her the greatest Queen the kingdom had ever seen.
And so, the kingdom of Omalin lived in a long era of peace and prosperity. There were no more dark charms in the palace. There were no more lies in the royal court. The kingdom was governed by a King and a Queen who knew that the longest road is often the only one that leads home. They were kind to the poor and they were fair to everyone. The moral was clear to everyone, from the oldest elder who could barely walk to the smallest child playing in the dirt: always work legally for what you want, for the fruit of patience is the sweetest of all. The Prince and his Queen lived happily for many, many years, and their love story was a light that guided the kingdom forever.
The sun rose every morning over a happy Omalin. The fields were green, and the rivers were full of fish. The children grew up knowing that they did not need magic to be special. They only needed to be like Ada. They needed to be patient, they needed to be kind, and they needed to be honest. The memory of the ten brides who failed was a reminder to everyone that shortcuts always lead to a dead end. But the memory of the Prince and his one true Queen was a promise that goodness always wins in the end. The kingdom was safe, the Prince was whole, and the heart of Omalin was full of peace.
