He loves his wife and she loves him too. Mark spoils Stephanie with money and expensive gifts. Their wedding was the talk of the town. A lot of rich people and big men attended the wedding. They had a wonderful time during their honeymoon in Dubai. They spent time in expensive hotels and Mark paid for everything. Money is never his problem.
Mark and Stephanie just returned to Abuja from Dubai this evening and they are moving into their new mansion.
Mark build the house specifically for himself and his wife. He has other houses but this one is reserved for the two of them and the children they will have. The building was furnished even before they had their wedding. Everything was ready for them to move in. When they arrived Abuja from Dubai, Mark and Stephanie went straight to the new mansion. But as Stephanie opened the door, she saw an an envelop inside the living room. She was shocked when she read the letter.
The letter was written by thieves who want to visit them in two days time. The thieves gave them a date and told them to keep N10 million for them. Stephanie rushed to her husband and read the letter aloud to him.
“Dear Mark and Stephanie, congratulations on your wedding. We wish you a happy married life and a peaceful home. We are the thieves that control this area and the entire estate. Since you are just moving into your new house, you have to settle us. We are going to pay you a visit by 3am tomorrow. You must go to the bank, withdraw N10 million and keep the cash for us. We are informing you on time because we don’t take transfers. Go to the bank, withdraw the money and keep for us so that when we come, we will just pick it and leave. We know you are a very rich man, so N10 million is nothing for you. Don’t even try to tell the police, because the police is aware of what we are doing. They will also get their own share of the money. If you fail to keep the money for us, all of us will sleep with your wife by force when we come. Thank you so much for your understanding. We wish you all the best and we are looking forward to meeting you at home tomorrow by 3am,” the thieve said in the letter.
“I’m afraid. Please, let us not sleep in this house. We have to leave. You have so many houses in Abuja. Let us move to another house or let use move to a hotel instead of staying here and waiting for the thieves to come and meet us. Please, let us leave this place immediately. I don’t want anything to happen to us. They said they will sleep with me by force, please, I don’t want anyone to do that to me. Take me away from this place,” Stephanie tells Mark. However, Mark did not listen to her.
“There is no need to be afraid. Thieves will not come here. They just want to scare us. Before I bought this estate, I made sure to ask questions about the security situation. The truth is that thieves don’t operate here. This is an estate meant for only rich people. The place is well-secured. The estate is fenced round and there is an entrance gate. That entrance gate is controlled by police and soldiers. There are also two police stations in the estate. No thief will have the audacity to come and operate in this estate. Relax my darling, nothing will happen. The person who wrote this letter just wants to scare us. They don’t know who they are dealing with,” Mark tells his wife.
“Please, listen to me. Listen to your wife and obey here. Let us leave this house for them. They have notified us that they are coming. Please, let us go. As for me, I will not be able to sleep in this house even for one minute. I’m leaving,” Stephanie tells her husband.
“If you leave this house, please, don’t come back. When you leave, go to your parents’ house. I told you not to be afraid. How can a rich man like me be running away from my house because of a letter? This is a new house worth N2 billion. I cannot leave it and run simply because I got a letter from a group of people who claim to be thieves. I’m rich and I have connections in high places. I know soldiers and I know policemen who can deal with anyone who enters my house illegally. We are not going anywhere and if you chose to leave this house because of this letter, just know that it will be the end of our marriage,” Mark tells his wife.
“Ah! My husband, it has not reached that level now. We are not quarreling. I’m just saying for the sake of our safety, we should not stay here. But if you say we should stay here, let us stay. You are the head of the family and I will respect your decision,” Stephanie said to her husband. They stayed in the apartment but Stephanie was restless.
Their first night in the house passed and nothing happened. The next day was exactly the day the thieves said they would come. Stephanie wanted to know what her husband planned to do, but Mark said he was sure the thieves would not come.
“I’m not keeping any money for them. The money is not a problem. I have billions in my bank accounts but I’m not going to keep any shishi for them. Besides, I’m sure they are not going to come. Someone just wrote that letter to scare us,” Mark said. Stephanie did not know what to do as she did not want to challenge her husband again. She thought of no sleeping in the house but her husband had told her that if she leaves, that would be the end of their marriage. She did not want her marriage to end so soon.
“The time now is 12am. The thieves will come in 3 hours time and my husband is busy sleeping. He is not even concerned about the letter,” Stephanie tells herself. She was restless and she could not sleep.
At exactly 3am, she heard a loud knock on the door.
“The thieves are here,” Stephanie said to herself.
