Husband To Two Wives Episode Four

“You have killed my mother. I said it from the beginning that you will bring disaster to this house but my mother did not listen to me. I told her that you are not a wife material but she did not pay attention. Now, you have brought trouble here. I knew you would be a troublesome person. That was why I said I don’t like you. From the first day I saw you, my instincts told me nothing good would come from you and I was right. I have always been right, but my mother thought I was foolish when I rejected you,” Femi tells Ife.

“You were the one who brought trouble to the house. I’m a very good woman. My mother brought me up to be a wife material but instead of keeping only me as your wife, you went ahead to marry another woman. To make matters worse, you allowed the woman you married to move into your house on our wedding day. Who does that? How do you want me to feel when you kept saying you don’t love me? You are the troublesome one, not me. What were you expecting when you married two women at the same time? Certainly, you asked for trouble and trouble you shall get,” Ife responded with deep anger. She was still holding the bottle she used to wound Femi’s mother.

“We have to rush mama to the hospital. There might be a chance to save her live. I’m not sure she is dead already. Let us not conclude. Instead of staying here and quarreling, it is important to move her to the hospital so she can get urgent treatment. After the treatment, we can then come back to continue our fight when we are sure that mama is alive. If she dies, one of us here will go to jail and I promise you, I will not be the one,” Wunmi said. Femi obeyed her and joined her to rush his mother to the hospital. Ife refused to follow them to the hospital.

When they got to the hospital, the doctors and nurses were asking questions as to what happened to the old woman.

“What happened to her? Did she fall? Was she attacked by someone? She has lost a lot of blo’od. Why didn’t you bring her to the hospital earlier? She is an old woman and she should not have to go through such level of pain. She might die if her blo’od level goes too low. Please, explain what happened,” the doctor asked with concern written all over his face. He was genuinely worried about Femi’s mother. Femi wanted to tell the whole truth of what happened but Wunmi tapped his shoulder not to tell the truth. Instead of saying it was Ife that smashed a bottle on mama’s head, they said mama fell while climbing the staircase. It was a convincing lie and the doctor believed them.

Wunmi wanted to protect Ife so that she would not be arrested in case mama dies.

“Why were you trying to protect that woman called Ife? She is not my wife and she meant not good in my house. I don’t care what happens to her. I wanted to call the police to arrest her if anything happens to my mother. In fact, the police would still arrest her even if my mother survives. Now, you have told the doctor that mama fell. If the police come here for a doctor’s report, they will be told that my mother fell down instead of the actual truth of what happened. I wanted Ife to go to jail and leave my house forever,” Femi tells Wunmi. They were at the hospital’s reception hall waiting as the doctor attended to mama.

“There are many ways to catch a rat. Ife cannot do anything. I will be the one to deal with her. I will finish her but I don’t want her to go to jail. When I finish with her, she will use her legs and walk away from that house and leave everything for me. Don’t worry, I just want to save her from police troubles. In fact, I don’t want us to invite the police into this matter. Let us handle it our own way. If your mother survives, she will then see the kind of woman she married for you. She would see that she made the wrong choice and she will then start believing that I’m the best for you,” Wunmi said.

“Alright, I believe you and I know what you can do. However, sometimes, being kind is not the option. I would have told the doctor the truth and also call the police. By now, Ife would be in jail resting her head on a dirty floor. But if you say we should not involve the police, then I agree with you but we must find and another way to get read of Ife so we can live our lives happily as husband and wife,” Femi said with a smile.

“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. I promise you, Ife will leave that house by herself without police involvement,” Wunmi said.

Meanwhile, Ife was at home planning her next move. She was not ready to leave the house. So far as she was concerned, Femi was her husband. There was no way she would leave him for Wunmi.

“This is my house. Femi is my husband. I’m going nowhere. Even if Femi says he does not love me, I will still stay here. I’m not leaving. But I have to plot a strategy that would help me take over everything,” Ife said. She picked up her phone and called the police. She told them a lot of lies.

“Hello, is that the police? Please, I need help in my house. Today is my wedding day. When I and my husband returned from the reception, we met a strange woman in our matrimonial bed. The woman appears to a thief. She was here to steal and we caught her red-handed. When tried to capture her, she attacked my mother-in-law with a bottle. My mother-in-law is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. I want you to come fast and arrest the lady. I don’t know who she is and I have never seen her before. Please, come fast let me take you to where she is at the moment,” Ife tells the police.

“We are on way. We will arrest her in a few minutes. Make sure you have the address of where she is at the moment,” the police said.
