The Temptation Episode Seven

“Your wife is the one knocking on the door. She is holding a container, and I'm sure she is here to fight with me. I don't know what is in that container, but she must be here to cause me harm. Please, I'm not opening the door. I don't want her to injure me with whatever is in that container. Come and open the door by yourself. Maybe you can talk to her yourself.” Doris said as she stepped back from the door. She wanted to open the door, but she decided to peep through the peephole of the door. That was how she discovered that Afoma was the one knocking on the door.

“How did you know my wife is the one knocking? It's when you open the door that you will know who is knocking. Are you now seeing in the spiritual realms? Please, open the door, it might be room service that is bringing us night food.” Ndu tells Doris but she insisted that the person she saw was Afoma.

“I'm not joking. Your wife is the one standing there. I saw her through the door's peephole. Come and see.” Doris said. Ndu could not believe his ears. He wondered how his wife discovered the exact hotel room where he was staying with Doris. He stood up from the bed and walked to the door, and peeped through the hole. He saw his wife standing at the door with a small container.

“This is serious. She is truly the one standing there. What is she doing here, and how did she find us? Someone must have given the information to her. Well, thank God you saw her first because I'm sure what she is holding in that container is dangerous. Let me call the police.” Ndu said. He pulled his phone and called the police.

“Hello, I need help right now. I'm at a hotel with my girlfriend and there is a woman here to harm us. She is standing at the door of the hotel room right now and I'm sure she is holding something that looks like a’cid. Please come quickly, she wants to injure us.” Ndu tells the police.

“If you want us to come, you must send us transportation fare. Or send us money to buy fuel and put in our van. We cannot just come to the hotel because you called us. We need money.” The leader of the police men said over the phone.

“Alright, send your account number. Money is not my problem. I will send you the money. Just come quickly and pick this woman. I don't know her.” Ndu said. The police sent their account number and he transfered N200,000 to them. Within a few minutes, they arrived at the hotel.

Ndu had already told them the room number and it was very easy for them to locate.

Meanwhile, Afoma has been standing at the door for at least 15 minutes. She vowed not to leave until the door was opened for her. She had no idea that her husband has called the police. She was just standing there waiting with the a’cid and getting ready to throw it at Doris who she hoped would be the one to open the door.

“Why is she not opening the door? She should open the door and collect this a’cid so I can leave this place.” Afoma said, not knowing that her husband called the police to come and arrest her.

A few minutes later, she heard plenty of footsteps. The police men have arrived and Afoma has no way of escaping.

“Madam, what are you doing here? Someone reported you to us. The person in this hotel room said you are disturbing him. Are you a guest in this hotel? And what are you holding? What is in that container? Drop the container right now.” The leader of the police men said. He was shouting with a loud voice. Out of fear, Afoma dropped the container of a’cid by the side. She placed it down carefully so that it will not pour on her body.

“I'm looking for my husband. He is in this hotel room with another woman. For the past two weeks, my husband has been here with his sidechick. I want to put an end to it. I have come here to teach the woman a lesson.” Afoma said with an emotional voice.

“But the man in this hotel room told us he does not know you. Why are you saying he is your husband when he categorically said he has never met you? We have to get you arrested so that you will not cause trouble in the hotel.” The police said.

“You can't arrest me. I'm here to take my husband from the woman who is trying to break my home. You should open that door and arrest her.” Afoma said but the police did not pay attention. Already, Ndu has given them enough money so they were not ready to hear Afoma's explanations. They arrested her and took her downstairs. They put her in their van and drove away.

“Instead of you arresting the person trying to steal my husband, I'm the one you have arrested. Her name is Doris and she is inside that room with my husband. How much did she pay you to arrest me? Mention the amount and I will double it.” Afoma said.

“She is not the one who paid us. But the man in that hotel room paid us N200k. If you can double it, then we can go back and arrest the two of them.” The leader of the policemen said.

“Alright, I will pay you N500k. I want you to arrest only the woman. Put an allegation on her head. Say that she kidnapped my husband and kept him in the hotel room for two weeks. Label it a case of kidnapping. Charge her to court and jail her and throw the key into the ocean.” Afoma tells the police.

“N500k is not enough for what you are asking for. You are saying we should jail an innocent person and you are paying only N500k? That's not enough. You will pay N1 million.” The leader of the policemen said.

“Alright, I will pay. Let's go and arrest her.” Afoma said. The police men turned the van and headed back to the hotel.
