19 Years in UK Episode Six
Bolu did not want to beat about the bush with her husband. She decided there was no need to hide anything from him. 19 years was such a long time. It wasn't her fault that she got tired of waiting. If it were other women who were morally lose, they would have gotten pregnant for another man in the first six months of their husbands' absence. But she waited for nearly 20 years before attempting to meet another man. She praised herself for having such a high level of restraint. Bolu decided to meet with her husband in his house. She contacted him and told him she was coming.
"I want us to talk. Please, tell me the address of the new house you bought so that I can come and meet you." Bolu said. Her husband was so excited when he heard that his wife was coming to meet him. He thought she was coming to finally make peace and they would start living together again. But Bolu had other plans in her heart. For one, she was no longer afraid. She was convinced that she did the right thing that any woman would have done. So, she was ready to go there an open up to him.
That evening, there was a heavy rainfall. The rain had started immediately Bolu left the family house and was driving to her husband's house. She managed to make it to the house under the rain because she was determined that the whole thing was going to end that day. Her husband gave her the address of the house, so it was not difficult for her to locate the place. She drove into the compound and parked her car under a shade. She could see her husband coming out with an umbrella to welcome her to the house.
"This house is beautiful. It means this man has really made money and returned to Nigeria to settle down. If he can afford to build this kind of big house, it means he has really made it. He is now a billionaire. Even the cars I'm seeing under the shade must have cost him a lot of money. But I'm determined to tell him the truth. I will not hide anything from him just because he has made money. He needs to hear the bitter truth today and it cannot be delayed anymore." Bolu said in her heart as her husband protected her with the umbrella and they walked into the building.
"Welcome to our house. I'm so happy you have decided to accept my request to come back and live with me, your lovely wedded husband. I'm happy to see you here. The house is yours and you are free to move in and enjoy all the wealth with me. One of the cars parked outside is also yours. Please, sit down let me bring something for you to drink." Her husband said as he rushed to the fridge and emerged with a bottle of an expensive wine. He poured some of the wine for his wife and also poured some for himself. Bolu did not touch the cup of wine.
"I did not come here to drink wine. I came here to have a serious talk with you. Please, keep the wine aside and listen to me very well because what I'm about to tell you is very important. I don't want to say it when I'm drunk and I want you to hear it when your senses are still very intact." Bolu said with a lot of seriousness on her face. Her husband was alarmed and his hope of making peace with his wife started to wane.
"I have come to tell that I'm no longer interested in this marriage. I want a divorce. I have considered everything and separation seems to be the most helpful course of action we have to take. I have already contacted my lawyer to file the papers. I just wanted to let you know first before the papers would be sent to you." Bolu said with clear voice. She was confident and unshaken.
"Why are you leaving me Bolu? I told you that I did not touch another woman in the UK. kept myself for you. I worked hard and made money and I have returned for us to enjoy the money I made. Why are you leaving when our life is supposed to start?" Her husband asked with tears in his eyes. From the looks on Bolu's face, he already knew she was serious about what she was saying.
"I want to leave you because you left me first. You left me for 19 years. I waited for you until this year. I had to listen to people advising me to look for another man to get me pregnant. I was approaching menopause. I couldn't just sit there and watch my life waste away. I want to officially tell you that I'm pregnant for another man. I don't want to pin the baby on you. I'm leaving you so that I can raise my child the way I want. I don't want problem with you and I don't want you to have problems with the man who got me pregnant. I'm sorry, but I can't start all over with you. It is too late." Bolu said as she stood up to leave.
"Bolu! Please wait!" Her husband said. Bolu turned to look at him.
"I know I wronged you. Please give me a second chance. I don't care about the pregnancy. You can still be my wife even with the pregnancy you have for another man." He said.
"No! My mind is made up. I can't just pick up from where we left 19 years ago. I have moved on. I will advise you to move on as well. Look for a younger person to marry." Bolu said as she leaves the house.
Weeks later, the divorce was finalized. Bolu moved on with her life and married Samuel. She later gave birth to her baby and was glad she made the decision to stick to Samuel because he proved to be a better husband.
