19 Years in UK Episode Four

The next morning after he arrived Nigeria, Baron woke up and stretched himself like a little baby. His heart was filled with happiness as he looked around the master bedroom and saw how beautiful it was. He stood up and walked around the bedroom and then opened the window a little to look outside. From the upstairs, he could see some parts of the city of Abuja and he loved it. Baron walked out of the bedroom and toured the house again, just enjoying how beautiful it was and nodding his head as if to say "I have done very well for myself." But there is still one problem he has to attend to, and that is locating his wife, Bolu.

"Let me take my shower so that I will go and look for my wife. I have to go to the family house immediately so that people will know that I'm now back to Nigeria. I'm sure it will be a huge surprise to them. I'm sure my wife will jump and hug me by the time she sees me. I just can't wait for that moment of joy and reunion." Baron said to himself as he walked into the bathroom near his bedroom. He took his bath and cleaned up. He went back to the room and dressed up in one of the clothes he brought from the UK. Baron checked himself in the mirror and he was convinced that he was looking good.

Baron went out of the room and soon, he was in the compound. Before he returned to Nigeria, he sent money to a car dealer and they delivered two brand new cars to his compound. He bought one for himself and the other one was for Bolu. He picked the key to one of the cars and then opened the door. He stepped in and started the engine. Even when he was in the UK, he did not have a car. However, he learned how to drive because he knew he would be driving a new car when he returns to Nigeria.

"The car sounds great!" Baron said. The gateman opened the gate for him and he drove out of the compound, heading to his family house where he was hoping to meet his wife. As he was driving in the streets of Abuja, he was happy that he has finally returned to the place he grew up. He knew everywhere and how to find his way to his family house even though some places have changed.

"The city is beautiful and somewhat confusing, but I can still find my way to my father's house because this was where I was born and this is where I grew up." Baron said as he navigated the streets. He finally entered the street where his father's house is located. He drove into the compound easily because it had no gate. It was a thing of joy when his mother saw him. His father was late.

"Where is my wife?" Baron asked his mother who was still hugging him and shouting for the neigbours to come out and see that her long-lost son has now found his way back home. It was just like the prodigal son has returned after years of staying abroad. His mother even cried.

"I thought you have forgotten us. I was even thinking you were dead. Why did you cut everyone off? Including me your mother? Did I offend you? Because of your prolonged absence, I developed high blood pressure. I thought I would never see you again." Baron's mother, who is now very old said. She was weeping like a baby and Baron was trying so hard to control tears from coming from his eyes. It was when he saw his mother crying that he recognized the magnitude of what he did. He realized how bad it is to cut off family members for too long.

"Mama I'm so sorry! I was trying to make money so I can lift the family out of poverty. My family has been poor for too long. I was trying to fix this so that the next generation coming after me will not suffer the kind of poverty I suffered. I don't want poverty to disturb this family ever again. I'm happy to announce to you that I found that money that I was looking for. If I did not close my eyes away from the family, I would not have been able to make money. I would have been distracted. Please, forgive me. I'm back now and I promise never to leave your side again. I now have the resources to take good care of you in old age." Baron tells his mother. He almost cried but he controlled the tears.

"Please, don't leave me again. I beg you in the name of God. You are all I have got for now." Baron's mother said with tears still coming from her eyes.

"I'm going nowhere. But Mama, where is my wife? I have not seen her. Is she not hearing my voice? If she is around, she should have heard my voice and come out to hug me. Is she not around? I miss her so much and I have been longing to see her face since I returned to Nigeria yesterday." Baron said as he entered the house. He entered the room where his wife used to stay but Bolu was not there.

"Where is she?" He asked his mother.

"She has gone to work. Your wife works in a bank and she is a manager. She goes to work very early in the morning." His mother said. She then told Baron the address of his wife's office. He jumped into his car and drove to the bank.

When he got to the bank, he packed his car outside the gate and walked in. He asked to see the bank manager because his mother told him Bolu was the manager. A security man led him into Bolu's office. Bolu was with Samuel when Baron entered the office.
