The Strength of a Woman Episode Six

Angel and her children lavished Chief Willie's wealth with recklessness. They did not pay attention to his businesses or companies. They did not care to know if his industries were functioning or if they have folded up. All they wanted was to enjoy the money that was left in his bank account. They were happy that he had left one of his ATM cards in the house. Chief has N100 million in the account and Angel knows the pin. That was the money they were still enjoying. They bought new cars for themselves. All of them lived lavish lifestyle as Angel encouraged her children to enjoy all they had missed since their father chased them away.

"Enjoy yourselves now. There is money. Since he chased us away from what rightfully belongs to us, we have been suffering. Now is our turn to enjoy. When we finish the money in this card, I will go to the bank to transfer all the monies in the other bank accounts. We are going to wipe out his wealth. He said you are not his children. When he was pursuing us, I promised him that we are going to come back to teach him a bitter lesson. We are here just the way I promised. Now, he is dead and everything belong to us. I now run this house." Angel tells her children.

"When are we going to take over his companies? He has a lot of companies. I think we should share them among ourselves now that he is dead. There is no need to waste time. After all, everything belongs to us. We are his children, whether he likes us or not. He gave birth to us, whether he denies it through DNA test or not. We are here to possess our possessions." One of the children said.

"I think you are right. Tomorrow, I will pay a visit to the headquarters of his company so that I will take over the whole place. I know by now, they must have heard that he is dead. The company belongs to me and my children. I will go there tomorrow and tell whoever is in charge that I'm the new managing director and CEO. They must henceforth report to me or be sacked."

Angel said. She was drinking wine. Her children brought their own cups and poured the expensive wine for themselves. Since they moved into the house, they buy expensive wine like water.

The next morning, Angel drove her car to the headquarters of Chief Willie's company. He has

many companies but all of them operate from one big building called the headquarters. She knows the place because she used to work there when she and her husband were still together. Before going to the headquarters, Angel had gone to a computer center and printed a fake will. The will had claimed that Chief Willie handed over his wealth to her to manage. That was what she handed over to the manager after she arrived.

"You must have heard that my husband is dead." She tells the manager when she entered his office.

"Yes, but I also know that the two of you are divorced. I mean you were no longer married to him before he died. So, you cannot call him your husband. He is your ex-husband." The manager said.

"Will you shut up your dirty mouth? You think I'm here to joke with you? Well, by the time I fully take over the running of this company, I will have no option but to sack you. Anyway, I don't have to argue with you. I'm here to inform you that before my husband died, he handed over the company to me. He actually wrote a will. He wrote everything down in a legal document which he gave to his lawyer. The lawyer has come to the house to read the document and I'm the one who was asked to inherit and manage all the companies owned by my husband. From this moment, you are to report to me and take all orders from me. Failure to do this, you will be sacked." Angel tells the manager.

"You are telling lies. The Chief Willie that I know can never hand over his companies to you. Even if there is no other human being in this earth, you can't be the one to manage his businesses. He would rather close down this place instead of handing it over to you to destroy." The manager said.

"You are hereby fired." Angel tells the manager.

"I'm not fired. I'm leaving by myself. I don't even believe that Chief Willie is dead. We have not seen his dead body neither have we held a burial. You can't claim he is dead and there is no evidence. You just want to reap where you did not sow. You want to 'kolombi' Chief Willie's wealth but I will not be part of it. I promise you, whatever happened to Chief Willie will soon come to the open. Nothing is hidden under the sun" The manager said. As he stood up to leave, all the other staff who work in the company all followed him.

"We rather resign than work under this woman. She was so wicked when she was here. We will wait for Chief Willie to return. We don't believe that he is dead." Some of the staff said as they staged a walkout.

"You are all fired! You can go if you want. I will hire other people to work for me." Angel said. The whole place became quiet and empty after all the staff left. She became confused too. She did not know where to start. She went home to rest her head first.

Meanwhile, in the village, Juliana was still taking care of her husband faithfully. Chief Willie's recovery was slow. However, the traditional medicine was working. After one week at the bone setter's house, he has started opening his eyes and raising his neck.

"At least, there is small progress. It is better than the hospital." Juliana said.

"I told you that your husband will recover." The bone setter said.
