Strength of a Woman, Episode One

Juliana had always had the dream of getting married to a rich man. She was just 20 years old when suitors started coming for her right life and center. When her husband started 'toasting her', she was still in her final year at the university. Her parents had doubts because they were thinking that she was too young to get married. They did not know that Juliana's life-long dream was to get married early, bear children and rest when she is 30. She wanted to be able to raise her children when she is young. That was why she accepted to get married to Willie, a rich billionaire.

"I know Willie is far older than me, but I will marry her. He is rich. It will be very difficult for me to see a man like him again in my lifetime if I reject him. He is 60 years old and I'm 20. It's true that the age gap is wide, but I will manage it. I don't want to miss the opportunity of getting married to a billionaire." Juliana said to her parents one day when they invited her to the house for a discussion on the matter. They had no option but to allow her to marry the man of her dreams.

Juliana and Willie got married during an elaborate ceremony which was a talk of the town. The wedding attracted so many dignitaries, including state governors, captains of industries and several prominent people. Many celebrities and musicians performed at the wedding. Social media was agog with photos of Juliana and her husband. Many people said Juliana married an old man because of his money. But she did not allow people to make her feel bad. She was proud of her decision and she wore it like clothe..

"I'm not ashamed to accept that I married an old man. He is the love of my life. My husband is every woman's dream and there are women out there who are envious of me. They are dreaming to marry an old man like my husband.

"Juliana said in a video she posed on social media.

It was after the wedding that Juliana graduated from the university. She knew that the certificate was just for fancy because her rich husband would never allow her to work. Already, the man had told her that there was no need to start stressing herself around in search of a job. She told her to mention any type of business she wants and he would open it for her.

"I want to be selling wigs. I want to import wigs from abroad and sell to rich women in Nigeria." Juliana tells her husband one day when they were resting in their bedroom. Their house is located at Banana Island, an exclusive area preserved for rich people.

"Consider it done!" Willie said to his young wife.

"Thank you my darling. You are my 'Odogwu.' You are my one in a billion. I don't know what I would have done without you in my life. You are my dream come true. It is because of you that I'm enjoying the life I had dreamt of as a young woman." Juliana said. That's how she praises her husband every day.

Juliana did not waste any time to get pregnant after their wedding. Pregnancy showed just one month after the wedding. Her husband was very happy. The joy in the house was too much. Even Juliana was surprised at how soon she got pregnant.

"People were telling me that my husband cannot perform his bedroom duties, shame on them. They think they are God. Now, just one month after our wedding, I'm pregnant with a baby. I'm so happy for this heavenly blessing. God has shown me and my husband mercy and love." Juliana said happily.

"This is one of the greatest news I have ever heard. I mean, I'm going to be a father? For making me a father in my old age, I promise you every good thing of life." Willie tells Juliana as he hugged her tightly. He went to the refrigerator and produced a bottle of red wine which they used to celebrate the pregnancy. He also brought two glass cups. He poured one for himself and one for his wife.

Willie had already paid for a big shop for his wife. He decided to use it as a reward for her getting pregnant. He employed a hair specialist who stocked the shop with all manner of expensive wigs just as Juliana had described. Later that evening after they finished celebrating the pregnancy, Willie led Juliana to the shop and handed the keys to her.

"This shop is for you. Use it as a reward for making me a father." Chief Willie tells his young and beautiful wife. Juliana was overwhelmed with joy. She jumped up and hugged her husband.

"This is my dream shop. This is what I have always wanted. Thank you so much my 'Odogwu.' You are such a good man. In my next life, I will still get married to you." Juliana said happily. Juliana loved her shop and that was where she has decided she would be spending most of her time. Only rich people can afford to buy hair from the shop.

Six months after Juliana's wedding, her life was still going on well. She was enjoying her pregnancy because there was money. Everything was looking very good and bright. Her future and that of her unborn child was bright.

But one day, something happened. She was in her shop when she got a call asking her to come to a particular hospital. She was told that her husband had a road accident when returning from his office. She rushed to the hospital and saw her husband in coma. She could not recognize him. He was not talking, but the doctors said he was still alive.

While she was at the hospital, one other woman arrived with five children who are all grown-ups.

They demanded to gain access to the hospital ward where Chief Willie was being cared for.

"Who are you please?" Juliana asked the woman.

"My name is Angel. And I'm Chief Willie's first wife. These are my children. Chief Willie is the father of these children. We have come to inherit his property because we heard he is dead. So, you are the woman trying to steal what belongs to me and my children? Please, go to his house now, pack all your things and leave. I also heard he opened a shop for you. Well, I don't want to see you in that shop anymore. It belongs to me and my children." The woman said to Juliana.

Juliana was shocked because she had no idea that Chief Willie had another wife. When she opened her mouth to talk, what came out from her eyes were tears.

"I'm in hot okra soup. But I will fight this battle and win." Juliana said to herself.
