The Dying Billionaire Episode 8
Pamela woke up on a hospital bed after escaping from the kidnappers. The police had taken her to the hospital. The nurses were kind to her and gave her food and water. After some rest, the doctor came to check on her. "You're lucky to be alive," he said. "We ran some tests. Your baby is still there and growing well." Pamela smiled for the first time in days. "Thank you, doctor," she replied. She touched her stomach and whispered, "You will live." She was determined to fight for justice. After she was discharged, she told the hospital staff she was going straight to the police. She had a story to tell.
At the police station, Pamela walked in looking weak but focused. The officer at the front desk asked, "Madam, how can we help you?" Pamela said, "I want to tell you the people who kidnapped me. I was kidnapped by the family of Chief Omenka." The officer frowned. "What?" Pamela explained everything-how Ebube and her son Dike kidnapped her and locked her in a room without food. She also mentioned how she escaped after bribing one of the guards with a necklace. The officers listened carefully. One of them said, "This is serious. We need to act fast."
Inspector Garba was called in. After listening to Pamela's story, he asked her more questions. "Are you sure of what you're saying?" Pamela nodded. "Yes, sir. I know what I'm saying. Chief Omenka wanted me to have his child. His wife and son didn't like it. They wanted me gone." Garba stood up. "Take us to the house. If what you're saying is true, they will face the law." Pamela entered their patrol van. It was time for Ebube and her son to pay for everything they had done.
When they got to the mansion, Ebube was in the living room with Dike. Police officers jumped down from the van and entered the house. "You are under arrest," one officer shouted. "For what?" Ebube asked. Pamela walked in from behind. "For kidnapping me," she said. Dike stood up in shock. "She escaped?" he asked. "You will explain yourself at the station," the officer said. They handcuffed both of them and began to search the house. Pamela stood quietly, watching everything happen. Justice was finally coming.
As the police searched the house, they found something shocking. Inside one of the rooms, wrapped in a bedsheet, was a dead body. One officer shouted, "Inspector! Come and see!" They opened the sheet. It was the lawyer who went missing. Pamela covered her mouth. "That's Chief Omenka's lawyer," she said. The inspector turned to Ebube. "So you killed him too?" Ebube said nothing. Dike looked away. "He refused to help us," he mumbled. "So we did what we had to do." The officers were disgusted. "You people are evil," one of them said.
They also found two loaded guns inside the wardrobe. "What were you planning to do with these?" Inspector Garba asked. "Self-defense," Ebube lied. The Inspector shook his head. "You kidnapped someone. You forced a lawyer to write a fake will. Now we've found his body and illegal guns in your house. You're going to prison." Dike started shouting. "She made me do it! It was all her idea!" Ebube turned to him. "You're a fool! You think you'll escape? I was doing it for you." The argument didn't change anything. The police pushed both of them outside.
Pamela followed the officers as they took the suspects away. Some neighbours stood outside, shocked at what was happening. They couldn't believe Chief Omenka's wife could do such a thing. "So the rumours are true," one man said. "She's wicked." Pamela didn't say anything. She just kept touching her stomach. The baby was the reason she stayed strong. She wanted to make sure her child would be safe. She had escaped death. Now, she wanted peace. She entered another police van, ready to answer more questions at the station.
At the station, Ebube and Dike were taken to the cell. They were told they would be charged for murder, kidnapping, and illegal possession of firearms. The inspector said, "You will stay here until the court decides what to do with you." Pamela sat in another room, drinking water and resting. Another officer came to take her statement again. "Madam, you've been through a lot. But you did well. We will make sure they don't go free," he said. Pamela nodded. "Thank you. I just want justice for my child and for Chief."
Later that night, Pamela was taken to a safe house. The police said it was for her protection in case Ebube and Dike had more people working with them. She agreed. "As long as I'm safe, I'll do anything," she said. One female officer stayed with her at the safe house. "You are brave," the officer said. Pamela smiled. "I didn't know I was this strong. I just wanted to protect my baby." That night, she slept peacefully for the first time in weeks. But deep down, she knew the battle was not yet over.
