The Man From China Episode Seventeen

Chin Cheng alongside the Chinese people and the villagers prepared to attack the village and to retake it from the bandits. They had enough weapons after the Chinese workers opened their helicopter and brought out a lot of guns. They were now properly armed and ready to attack. First, the Chinese workers were able to use some chemicals in their helicopter to produce small fuel bombs, which they were going to use at the palace. That was going to be the first line of attack. The fuel bombs were made with bottles and they were loaded in bags and put in the helicopter.

"As we move into the village to attack it, the pilot of the helicopter will have to fly above the palace and pour all these bombs there. The place should be set ablaze from above. This will cause a lot of confusion among the bandits and before they will recover, we will swoop in on them and take the village with a minimal fight.

Also, we have spied some parts of the village and we now know where their soldiers sleep. We will attack in the night. We will attack their soldiers in the night. The good thing is that they are not expecting any attack." Chin Cheng said as they were preparing to invade the village.

"Everything is now set. Let us move. Everyone should have courage. We will all overcome and stay alive. Look out for your brother. If anyone is injured, don't leave them behind. Stay close and fight together. We will defeat the bandits and take back the village. Be courageous. Show valour and power. Remember all you were taught during the training. You win by fighting together. Don't leave anyone behind. Listen to instructions and obey them. Remember, if anything goes wrong in any of our plans, we are finished." Chin Cheng said. They started moving into the village to attack it.

When they got close to the village, the helicopter pilot was asked to fly in first. It was in the night and the bandits were asleep. They did not know that Chin Cheng and his group were coming to attack. The helicopter flew over the village and went straight to the palace. At that time, the bandits stationed at the palace were asleep and their king was also asleep. The helicopter poured the bombs on the palace and the whole place was set ablaze after so many explosions. The fire spread to all the buildings in the palace compound. After the helicopter dropped the petrol bombs, it flew back to the forest.

When the whole palace went up in flames, the bandits had no way of coming out to fight. Almost all of them died in the fires. Chin Cheng and his group invaded the palace and killed the remaining ones, including their king.

They now came out and confronted the remaining bandits stationed outside the palace. They discovered that many of them had run away when they saw the fire that was raging inside the palace. They were confused and did not know what was causing the fire. They picked race and disappeared into the night. Chin Cheng and his group have won. Some villagers who heard the noise and hostilities at the palace ran away into the bush. They thought the bandits were coming to attack them again.

It was in the morning that they realized that they have been liberated by Chin Cheng and his fighters. Everyone in the village gathered in the palace to celebrate the victory. The villagers had endured a lot over the past few weeks. Their food and farms have been plundered by the bandits and they have almost been taxed to death. All their monies were gone and everything they were making was being given to the bandits. They were perpetually living a life of fear until that night when Chin Cheng arrived in the village with his courageous fighters.

That morning, the helicopter which had flown into the forest in the night returned to the village with Adanna in it. The villagers were very happy to see Adanna. The story was told in full of how the rag-tag army organized itself into a formidable force that fought and retook the village from the rampaging bandits. It was a glorious story to the ears of the villagers and they instantly made to honour the fighters.

"Chin Cheng should be our king." One of them said. Many of the villagers who gathered at the palace started chanting it as a song, calling on Chin Cheng to accept to be their king. However, Chin Cheng refused.

"I'm not a native of this village. It will not be good if a foreigner becomes your king. Choose someone among you to be your king. Choose a native of this village. I thank you for the honour, but I think there are many of you here who are qualified to be the king of the village. I would prefer that you choose a member of this village. Besides, I will soon travel back to China and I will not be here to fulfil my roles as a king."

Chin Cheng said to the villagers.

"If you refuse to accept the role, we will keep it for your son. When Adanna gives birth, the child will become our king. It is our own way of thanking you for what you have done for us. Even if you take the child to China, we will still see him as our king. We will always know him as our king in the diaspora. We can never forget what you have helped us to achieve." The villagers said.

Despite the fact that Chin Cheng rejected the idea, they crowned him their acting king by force. Adanna became the queen. Her unborn child was named as the one who would inherit the crown.

"Before you will travel back to China with Adanna, we will choose another person among us to replace you. However, for now, you are the most qualified person to lead us." The villagers said.

In a few weeks, they rebuilt the palace and Chin Cheng lived there for one more year before moving back to China. Adanna later gave birth to a baby boy. Although she and the child followed Chin Cheng to China, the people continued to recognize the baby as their future king.
