Moving To Italy Episode 9
Barely 24 hours after her arrival at Madam Philo's hotel, Uju had killed someone. The giant man was dead and she had dragged him into her bathroom, not knowing how else to handle the situation and prevent people from finding out what had happened in her room. Uju sat there alone in her room and thought of what to do, but her brain seems cloudy. She could not think very clearly because she was tired and exhausted.
"Should I go and tell Madam Philo the truth? I don't know how she would react to the fact that I shot someone in her hotel. She might not be happy about it. I might create a bigger trouble for myself if I decide to inform her. I think it is best to keep it a secret. But I need help with this situation. I don't know if I should tell the waiter. But I don't trust him. He might spread the news and make the problem more complicated. It is better I don't tell anyone that I have killed a guest at the hotel, but how am I going to dispose of the dead body?" Uju asked herself. She started crying. She cried until her eyes became reddish and swollen.
"I don't know if I should have allowed the man to touch me instead of killing him. But I can't blame myself too much. I have the right to defend myself from a man who came in here to force me to be in bed with him. I was brought to this place against my wish and all I have done since I arrived at this hotel was to defend myself. I have done nothing wrong. The problem now is how to hide my actions." Uju lamented. She was still weeping.
Uju stood up from the floor and went into the bathroom to see the dead man again. She was hoping that the man would move, or talk. Let it be that he was not dead. Let it be that he was just pretending to be dead. Let it be that the bullet missed him. But as Juliet touched the man, he did not move. She placed her ear on his chest to see if he was breathing, but she didn't hear the sound of his heart.
"He is dead and gone. This is trouble, but I have to be strong so that I can deal with it. I have to quickly come up with a strategy. I have to come up with a plan tonight. The man cannot stay here until daybreak. It's either I take him away from the hotel or I leave the hotel. I don't know which one is better. Should I leave the hotel alone or should I carry the man with me? But he is too heavy. I can't walk if I carry him.
think the best option is to leave the hotel alone. I will try to disappear from the premises unnoticed." Uju said. She started packing her things in her bag. When she was done, she went back to the bathroom and took one last look at the dead body of the giant man.
"I'm so sorry for killing you. This was never my intention. I was just protecting myself. I'm going to run away. Goodbye. I pray your soul finds peace." Uju said as she started leaving. She wiped her tears with her left hand.
She opened the door and stepped outside. Everywhere was lit, and she could easily be seen.
Luckily for Uju, it was night when the hotel was not busy. Guests were either in their rooms or enjoying with the ladies assigned to them. Nobody was outside and even the security people at the hotel have all gone to their rooms to sleep.
"The coast seems clear for me to escape from this place." Uju said as she was walking towards the gate. When she got to the gate, she saw that it was locked.
"How am I going to pass now? I need to act fast before someone comes here to see me." Uju said as she looked back apprehensively. She ran to a hidden corner and stayed there close to a long bus.
"Let me hide here and think. I need to think fast and come up with a strategy. The fence is too high, I won't be able to climb it. I will fall and injure myself if I try to climb such a high fence. The thing looks like a fence of a prison yard. This place is actually a prison yard." Uju said. Her heart was beating very fast and she was scared of being caught.
Just then, Uju heard as the door of the security house opened and the security man came out with his torchlight. He started searching around because he had heard the sounds of footsteps. Uju saw the security man and hear fears increased.
Suddenly, someone tapped Uju from behind. She refused to turn because she didn't know who touched her. She wondered if the security man had caught her.
"Oh my God! I have been caught! I'm in trouble right now. The security man caught me. What am I going to do? Should I run? I think should run." Uju said. She removed her shoes gently and stood up in preparation to run 4-40. But a familiar voice called her name.
"Uju, don't run. It's me Tina. We were together in the bus when we were coming. All of us are here and we are trying to escape. Everyone has come out from their rooms. All five of us are hiding behind you. We are also looking for a way to run." A voice said from Uju's behind.
"What? How did you all come out at the same time? Did anyone help you pass the message or were you all kept in the same room?" Uju asked. She was surprised because she was not allowed to speak to anyone apart from the waiter.
"We all had different waiters. I bribed my own to help me inform others who want to escape. I told them the time to come out. He passed the message correctly. Didn't anyone come to your room to inform you?" Tina asked.
"He didn't come. But the important thing is that we are all here now and we have to work together to run away from this place." Uju said. The security man was close to where they were hiding.
Uju boldly walked out from hiding and all the five ladies joined her. The security man was not armed, so the ladies caught him and beat him up. They collected the key to the gate and then looked for a rope and tied him up.
Luckily, Uju had gone to a driving school during her NYSC. She is a good driver. They broke into the bus which had brought them from Nigeria. The bus driver had left the key on it. All the ladies entered the bus. Uju turned on the ignition and the engine reved to life. She engaged the gear and they sped off from Madam Philo's hotel.
