COOU announces events for combined convocation ceremony (10th-15th)

This is to inform the 2019/2020, 2020/2021, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024 Graduates of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Anambra State, Parents/Guardians, Alumni, Friends, and Stakeholders of the University that the Combined Convocation Ceremonies for the award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees as well as Award of Honorary Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and Certificates will also be celebrating her Silver Jubilee (25th Anniversary) within the week.

Date: Tuesday 20th – Saturday 24th May, 2025. The Silver Jubilee Celebration

PRE-CONVOCATION/SILVER JUBILEE ACTIVITIES

1. Friday, 18th May 2025

   • Vice Chancellor’s Press Conference and Media Engagement

     • Time: 9:30 am

     • Venue: Vice Chancellor’s Conference room

     • Faculty Tour

     • Time: 12:00 noon

2. Saturday, 17th May 2025

   • Silver Jubilee Road Walk/Show

     • Time: 7:00 am

     • Venue: University community to assemble at COOU/TH Field Awka Campus

   • Event: Convocation Ceremony for Higher degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, First Degrees (B.A, B.Sc), Award of Prizes, Conferment of Honorary Degrees (Ph.D)

     • Venue: Convocation Arena, Igbariam Campus

     • Time: 10 am

CONVOCATION FEES

1. First Degree N25,000

2. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) N70,000

3. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) N70,000

4. Number of Guests: 2 persons are to be listed in (7) below

MODE OF PAYMENT

All payments to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University should be made through the following process:

1. Visit http://portal.coou.edu.ng

2. Click on the Sunday button

3. Click on the “Pay” button

4. Generate payment invoice under “Sunday” and pay online or at any bank of your choice with the receipt and collection

GENERAL NOTICE TO ALL GRADUANDS

1. Graduands are please requested to note the following:

   • First Degree Graduands are to ensure that they pay the sum of N25,000 for the Convocation Ceremonies

   • It is mandatory for Higher Degree Graduands to pay the sum of N70,000 for the Convocation Ceremonies

2. All Graduands are expected to:
   a) Collect their academic gowns
   b) Collect Convocation Brochure
   c) Collect Scrolls
   d) Collect COOU Jacket
   e) Collect COOU Tie or Scarf
   f) Collect Cap

GENERAL INFORMATION AND POSSESSION AND WEARING OF ACADEMIC GOWNS

1. It is mandatory for all Graduands to wear the prescribed academic gowns for the Convocation Ceremonies

2. All Graduands must be in full formal attire – suit, shirt, tie for males, skirt and blouse/top for females or full national dress

3. Undergraduates Graduands will collect their academic gowns from their respective Faculties

4. Postgraduate Graduands will collect their academic gowns from the School of Postgraduate Studies

5. Graduands must provide proof of payment before collecting their academic gowns

6. Graduands are required to return their academic gowns to the Faculty/School by Monday, 26th May, 2025

7. All rented academic gowns must be returned to their respective Faculties/Schools by Monday, 26th May, 2025. Late return will incur a penalty of N5,000 per day

8. Payment starts from Tuesday 15th May, 2025

SECURITY TIPS

1. Bags and luggage are strictly disallowed inside the Convocation Arena

2. Visitors are permitted in the designated areas or as may be directed on arrival

3. Security personnel will guide all vehicles to the designated parking area of any kind is not allowed near the Convocation Arena
