30 Rock’s Tina Fey & Tracy Morgan Reunite for New NBC Show

NBC has given a pilot order to a new comedy from executive producers Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan. In the untitled single-camera comedy, Morgan will star as a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image.

It’s a reunion for Fey and Morgan, who worked on the Emmy Award-winning sitcom 30 Rock. Fey co-created 30 Rock and starred as Liz Lemon, while Morgan appeared as Tracy Jordan. The comedic duo were cast members on Saturday Night Live and recently appeared on the sketch show’s 50th Anniversary Special.

After 30 Rock, Fey created Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for Netflix. Her next comedy series, The Four Seasons, arrives this spring and will stream on Netflix. Fey is the star, writer, and executive producer. Based on the 1981 feature film of the same name, The Four Seasons stars Fey, Steve Carell, Colman Domingo, Erika Henningsen, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Will Forte, and Marco Calvani.

With the NBC comedy, Morgan adds another TV show to his upcoming slate. Morgan is set to star in Crutch, a half-hour comedy at Paramount+ premiering later this year. Crutch is a spin-off of the CBS series The Neighborhood. Morgan’s deal allows him to star in both projects. Before Crutch, Morgan starred in the TBS comedy The Last O.G. for four seasons.

Who is involved with Tracy Morgan’s new NBC show?

The untitled NBC comedy pilot will be written by Robert Carlock and Sam Means, who also worked on Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock. Carlock co-created Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with Fey and Mulligan with Means.

Rhys Thomas will direct and executive produce the pilot. Additional executive producers include Eric Gurian and David Miner. Universal Television will produce with Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts.
