New Jack Fury Trailer: Blaxploitation Movie Debuts at SXSW

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive New Jack Fury trailer for the upcoming psychedelic Blaxploitation movie, which hails from filmmaker Lanfia Wal. The film will be having its world premiere at the upcoming 2025 South by Southwest Film Festival during its Midnighter screening section.

“I chose to write and direct New Jack Fury after writing a number of episodes of Crime & Justice. The series was based on true stories that included femicide, child trafficking, and government corruption,” Wal said in a statement. “I wanted to do something completely ridiculous and over-the-top, basically a complete 180 of the dramas that I was writing and hence, a neon-soaked, synth bumping, Jheri curl filled comedy/action set in the 1980s was born, New Jack Fury!”

What happens in the New Jack Fury trailer?

The video teases what to expect from the genre-bending action comedy about an undercover police officer, portrayed by Andre Hall (Boo! A Madea Halloween). Hall will be joined by Page Kennedy, Dean “Michael Trapson” Morrow, Paul Wheeler,

Ally Renee, Shawn Nathan, Wrekless Watson, Ace Vane, James Markham Hall, Jr., and Vincent M. Ward.

New Jack Fury is written and directed by Lanfia Wal, who will also be serving as the editor and production designer. The film is produced by Wal, Van White, Mariah Morgenstern, Denaun Porter, and Akino Childrey, with Chris R. Jones serving as an executive producer. The creative team also includes cinematographer Jonathan Rigattieri, stunt coordinator Eric C. Sun, and assistant director Joshua Lou Friedman.

“It’s the 80’s. Dylan Gamble is a straight-edged, undercover police officer working to take down a powerful crime organization called the Styles Syndicate. However, Dylan is fired before doing so. A year passes, Gamble has a new life and a new girlfriend by the name of Tanisha. Unfortunately, she is kidnapped by the Syndicate and Gamble must save her,” reads the official synopsis. “Gamble reluctantly gets the help of a small-time crook named Hendrix Moon and Moon’s archrival, a mild-mannered moonwalker named Leslie Kindall, and the oddball trio form an unlikely alliance. Will Dylan find his sweet thang, Tanisha? Will he be able to also take down the Syndicate? Can Moon and Leslie go the entire length of this film without killing one another? Will cassette tapes completely crush 8-tracks?”
