EPL: Ferdinand pinpoints big mistake Arteta made in Arsenal’s title race with Liverpool

Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has pinpointed one big mistake, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta made amid his side’s Premier League title race with Liverpool this season.

Arsenal currently sit in second place on the Premier League table with seven points behind leaders Liverpool.

However, Ferdinand believes Arsenal would be ‘closer to Liverpool’ in the title race had if not been for a mistake from Arteta earlier in the season.

According to the former England defender, Arteta should have featured Ethan Nwaneri when Martin Odegaard was injured.

“Arsenal could be nearer to winning the league and closer to Liverpool if your manager played Nwaneri when Odegaard was injured,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.

“What he is doing… he is cooking defenders, he is cooking teams. I think if he came in you would have got more points.

“It’s easy to say in hindsight but I was saying it at the time. Chuck him in and just see, what’s the worst that can happen?

“Because you were running up dead alleys at the time and not getting results. Put him in! Odegaard was gone.”

Nwaneri was impressed again in Arsenal’s Premier League 2-0 win over Leicester City at the weekend.
