You made massive mistake letting De Gea leave – Parker tells Man Utd

Former Manchester United star, Paul Parker has told his old club that they made a massive mistake letting goalkeeper, David de Gea leave Old Trafford.

Recall that Man United allowed De Gea to leave the club two years ago.

The Red Devils then went to buy Andre Onana from Inter Milan as De Gea’s replacement.

However, Parker still has doubts over Onana and believes it was a mistake to let De Gea leave.

This is coming after Man United’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

“Looking at the backline now, there’s no great pace,” Parker told Betfred.

“And you look at the goalkeeper, I think they made a massive mistake letting David de Gea go so quickly.

“They could have kept him there, built a team and then discussed bringing in a new goalkeeper. For me, it’s more important for a goalkeeper to use his hands rather than his feet.”

De Gea joined Serie A side Fiorentina as a free agent 12 months later after leaving United in 2023.
