Police gives details on Jigawa filling station fire incident
The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed another tanker explosion at a filling station in Dutse metropolis. The incident occurred on Thursday at Shakkato filling station along Kiyawa Road.
In a statement issued on Friday, Police Spokesperson SP Shiisu Adam assured that no lives were lost in the explosion.
According to preliminary investigations, the fire erupted while petroleum products were being transferred from a tanker into an underground storage tank.
“Suddenly, the fire ignited and became wild beyond the control of filling station operators, who quickly alerted authorities to curtail the situation,” Adam stated.
Upon receiving the report, a police team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Dutse rushed to the scene to secure the area and manage movement around the site.
Firefighters from Dutse International Airport and the Federal Fire Service in Dutse town also responded swiftly, managing to bring the blaze under control.
Authorities confirmed that no casualties or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
