Police arrest wife of aborted Kano terrorist attack mastermind, two others
The wife of Ahmad Adam Abba, the Chadian national who masterminded last week’s aborted terrorist attack in Kano during the National Tijjaniyya Maulud ceremony has been arrested.
She was arrested alongside Jibrin Mohammed, 42, another Chadian; and a Nigerian accomplice who provided accommodation for the Chadian terrorists.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba told journalists that the wanted Chadian suspected terrorist escaped out of Nigeria, “and we have successfully apprehended three of the suspect’s associates, including his wife, another Chadian named Jibrin Mohammed, 42 years old, and a Nigerian.
“They were arrested following a thorough investigation and intelligence-led policing and are currently in custody with investigation ongoing.”
CP Dogo recalled that on 24th January, 2025, the Command released a security alert, calling on the public to exercise caution and report any suspicious person or item to the authority following series of intelligence reports from various intelligence agencies about the presence of suspected terrorists in the State.
Acting on one of the intelligence reports, Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs were recovered with discreet investigations in progress.
The suspected terrorist, Ahmad Adam Abba, a Chadian National, who masterminded the killing of 17 people in the Republic of Chad, was identified planning to set up a terrorists base in Kano.
CP Dogo said, “in addition to the aforementioned arrests, we have ramped up our intelligence-gathering efforts across various places. Our teams are collaborating closely with other intelligence agencies and the communities to ensure that we are working hand-in-hand to identify any suspicious activities and individuals who may pose a security threat to our society.
” Furthermore, patrols have been intensified, and surveillance measures have been enhanced in key areas known to be vulnerable.
“The Command through its public relations unit will continue conducting awareness programs to educate the public on the importance of reporting suspicious activities.
” It is vital that we foster trust and cooperation between the Police and the communities we serve, as this partnership is essential in combating crime and preventing any likely emerging security threats.
“While appreciating the continued support of the Kano State Government and the good people of the State, I also reassure members of the public that we are fully committed to maintaining peace and order in the State as your safety is paramount.
” In closing, I encourage everyone to continue to cooperate with the Police and be proactive in providing valuable information that will aid in surmounting any likely emerging security threat.”
