Wonder Woman 3: Chris Pine ‘Stunned’ After DC Rejected Sequel
Steve Trevor actor Chris Pine recently reacted to the cancelation of Wonder Woman 3. After DC Studios decided not to move forward with the sequel, some fans were shocked, and Pine has added his voice to those who have expressed their confusion over the choice.
Chris Pine was shocked when Wonder Woman 3 got canceled
In late 2022, DC Studios decided not to move forward with a semi-reboot for the DC Universe. Contrary to Gal Gadot’s comments in 2023, it was confirmed that DC Studios has no plans to continue with a sequel to Wonder Woman 1984.
Discussing the decision, Chris Pine told Business Insider:
“I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere.”
He continued:
“I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character. Patty [Jenkins] is such a thoughtful director.”
When asked about the status of his character, he confirmed that Steve Trevor was truly dead. Pine even said that it “would be ridiculous” to try to revive his character again.
Pine also recalled that he initially turned down the role of Steve Trevor. He stated that he “had no interest in playing the boyfriend.” However, Patty Jenkins convinced him by describing Trevor’s romance with Diana as “Casablanca.” So, he was enthused about the “love story” aspect of the movie and said yes.
But now that Steve Trevor is truly dead, it seems unlikely that Pine will return in a DC movie anytime soon. However, he is expected to return for Star Trek 4.
