The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer Gives First Taste of Chris Pratt’s Mario Voice
Nintendo promised that it would be showing a trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and now that time has come. After debuting its first poster, its first trailer has finally hit the internet, giving users a preview at what Chris Pratt’s highly anticipated Mario sounds like.
While Nintendo and Illumination had been keeping Mario’s updated look under wraps, leaks had prematurely spoiled the surprise, giving an extensive peak at the plumber and glimpse at Peach.
The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (collaborators on Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru). Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto are producing. Nintendo and Universal Pictures are co-financing the project.
The trailer opens with Bowser’s forces before transferring to Mario. Toad and Luigi also make an appearance, but the latter does not speak and, fittingly, only shrieks.
