The Billionaire’s Missing Child, Episode 1

“My dear wife, please forgive me. I cheated on you 30 years ago when you were yet to bear me a child. I was desperate, so I slept with another woman and got her pregnant and she gave me a male child,” Chief Stanley said in his will.

Chief Stanley is a multi-billionaire and an industrialist who owns many companies and businesses. Unfortunately, he died two months ago. He has been buried and his family has gathered to share his wealth.

Chief Stanley is a very wise man. He did not want his children to fight over his wealth, so he wrote a will before his death. Today, his wife and children gathered in his mansion to share the wealth. Barrister Ike, Chief Stanley’s lawyer is the one in charge of everything and he is around to read the will for everyone to hear how the wealth of the late billionaire will be shared.

Chief Stanley’s wife is know as Madam Ginika and she has two children named Ben and Jonathan. Both of them are grown adults and they were around with the hope that they would be the ones to inherit their father’s wealth. However, they were shocked when the lawyer started reading the will.

“We are here today to read the final will of Chief Stanley, a multi-billionaire and acclaimed industrialist who lived a prosperous life. Before his death, Chief Stanley deposited this will at the court of law and instructed me to read it immediately after his burial. I’m glad that his wife and all his children are here to listen to me as I read the will,” Barrister Ike said as he opened the envelope and brought out the document.

“Everyone should listen carefully to Chief’s final words. When he was alive, he told me that on no account should any of his children fight over his wealth. He said all of you must live in peace and accept his decision according to how he shared his wealth,” the lawyer said. He opened the document and started reading. His voice was very loud.

“First of all, I want to ask my wife to forgive me. I cheated on her 30 years ago, and the woman I slept with gave birth to a male child. I have never mentioned this secret to my wife. I decided that the secret will follow me to my grave and that I will only tell my wife about it after my death. That is why I included it in my will. Please, don’t be angry my dear wife. I loved you so much when I was alive but you know, you did not give me a child quickly after we got married. And as a rich man, I was under pressure to bear a child, especially a male child who will take my place after my death. That is why I slept with another woman and luckily for me, that woman got pregnant and gave me a male child,” Chief Stanley said in the opening paragraph of his will.

As the lawyer was reading the will, the whole house went silent. No one was smiling again. No one said a word. In fact, no one knew what to say. Madam Ginika did not know if she should start shouting or crying, but she decided to keep mute and listen to the lawyer to conclude what he was reading. After pausing for a while, the lawyer continued reading.

“I was only once that I slept with the woman. I did not do it twice and I did not bring her to my matrimonial bed or room. We did it in a hotel and that’s how she got pregnant. This happened 30 years ago and the child is now grown. His name is Kelvin,” Chief Stanley said in his will. Madam Ginika was wondering why her late husband was concentrating on the child he bore outside marriage instead of talking about his immediate family.

“Why is Chief telling us all these things in his will? He should have allowed the secret to follow him to his grave as he said. I don’t think it is important for us to hear how he slept with another woman in a hotel. Please, skip this part of the will and go to the most important part. Don’t waste our time,” Madam Ginika said. She was getting fed up after hearing the cheating details provided by her husband.

“Be patient Madam Ginika. We will finish soon.” The lawyer said as he continued reading.

“All of you must listen carefully. I was talking about the child I bore outside marriage because he is the person who has the keys to all my wealth. A few years before I died, I groomed Kelvin to take over my wealth in my absence. Remember, he is my first child even though I’m not married to his mother. I made sure he received the best education abroad and I made sure I showed him all the secrets about all my companies. He knows all my bank accounts and has the pin code to every of my bank account which contains billions. Technically, he is the head of this family in my absence. I handed everything over to him and he has been the one secretly running my business even when I was sick,” Chief Stanley said in the will.

His two children, Ben and Jonathan were shocked to hear what their father said. They wondered why they will be alive and their father will hand over all his wealth to a child born outside marriage. The most painful thing is that they don’t even know this child yet.

“What of us? What is our own inheritance? You are telling us that our father handed over his wealth to a child he gave birth to through cheating? This cannot stand. I cannot accept it.” Ben said with anger.

“But that is what Chief said in his will. Please, listen carefully let me conclude.” The lawyer said and continued to read.

“My dear wife and children, I know you have never met Kelvin. You don’t even know him. But he is alive and well. He is waiting for you to find him. For you to have access to my wealth, you must find Kelvin. He is the one who has the key to everything. If you can’t find him, you will not be able to spend any of my money and none of you will get anything. From now on, your job is to find Kelvin. Once you find him, he will give you what belongs to you as a member of my family. For my wife, I have N10 billion in bank account for you. For you Ben, my dear son, I have N50 billion for you in another bank account. For Jonathan, there is N40 billion waiting for you in a bank account. However, for any of you to have access to these money, you must find Kelvin. He is your elder brother and he is the one who opened the bank accounts. He is the one who knows the bank accounts and he is the one who can grant you access to this money. He will also give each of you two companies which will become your own. If you find him, you will get your money and companies, if you can’t find him, nothing for you,” Chief Stanley said in the last paragraph of the will.

Everyone left the place with anger as the lawyer concluded and also left the mansion.

However, Kelvin lives in the same mansion with the family. Kelvin has been working as Madam Ginika’s driver for five years. No one knows he is Chief Stanley's biological child.
