Episode 12

Deborah has not been herself since Jane threatened to expose her. She thinks her husband will soon find out that she was sleeping with Kelvin.

"What am I going to do? How am going to handle this situation?" Deborah asked herself.

Deborah could not sleep. The words Jane spoke to her in the kitchen kept replaying in her mind like a loud drum. She was restless, angry, and ashamed.

"I have to do something. I can't just sit here and watch her expose me." Deborah said.

She picked her handbag, stepped out of the house, and went straight to Kelvin’s apartment. When she entered, she saw him ironing his clothes. She dropped her bag angrily and faced him.

“Kelvin, tell me the truth. Why did you go and tell Jane about me and you? Why did you reveal my secret to that girl? Why did you tell Jane that you are servicing my engine?” Deborah asked.

Kelvin was shocked as he dropped the iron.

“Madam, I swear I did not mean to say anything. It was a mistake. I don’t even know how it happened.”

But Deborah’s face was filled with anger. She stepped closer.

“You don’t know how it happened? You opened your mouth and told Jane, my housemaid, that I am sleeping with you, my driver? Do you know the shame? Do you know the insult? She is now using it against me. She threatened me yesterday. She said if I chase her out, she will expose me to Chief.” Deborah said.

Kelvin quickly bent down, holding Deborah’s legs. “Please, Madam, forgive me. I didn’t know it would get this far. I was only talking carelessly. I didn’t know she would use it against you. I regret it deeply. I am begging you. Don’t be angry. Don’t leave me. Please.” He begged.

Deborah looked down at him. For a moment she wanted to slap him, but she forced herself to calm down. She sat down on a chair.

“You have put me in big trouble. But if you truly love me, then we must join hands to finish Jane,” she said.

“Yes, Madam. You are right. We must do something about her. She has become too bold. If we don’t silence her, she will ruin both of us. But Madam, don’t worry. I have already thought of a plan.”Kelvin said.

“What plan?” she asked. Kelvin stood up and dusted his knees.

“We still have the upper hand. Don’t forget, we have Jane’s video with Chief Okolo. That video is enough to scatter her life. Let us use it wisely.” He smiled slowly as he explained.

Deborah listened closely. Her anger was reducing little by little. Kelvin continued.

“Here is the plan: go home and confront Chief with the video. Tell him you have proof that he has been sleeping with Jane. Tell him that if he refuses to chase Jane away, you will post the video online. Chief will be afraid of disgrace. He will not want the world to see such a shameful video. He will have no choice but to obey you. This way, Jane will be thrown out, and she can no longer threaten you.” Kelvin spoke with confidence.

Deborah slowly began to smile. The plan sounded perfect to her. She agreed.

“Kelvin, you are right. If I show Chief that video, he will be ashamed. He will beg me. He will do anything I say just to hide his disgrace. Then Jane will be the loser. I will make sure she packs her load by herself and leaves. Nobody will ever know my own secret with you. Yes, I like this plan,” she said, standing up from the chair.

“Thank you. You are smart. You are the only one I can trust.” Deborah said.

Later that evening, Deborah returned to the main house. She sat quietly in the sitting room until Chief Okolo came back from visiting his friends. As soon as he sat down on the sofa, Deborah stood up and confronted him.

“Chief, I need to talk to you now,” she said. He looked up at her curiously.

“What is it, Deborah? Why do you look so angry?” he asked. Deborah folded her arms.

“Chief, you are shameless. You are sleeping with my housemaid. A girl young enough to be your daughter. You have no shame.” Chief’s face changed instantly.

Chief Okolo frowned deeply and shook his head.

“What are you saying, Deborah? How can you accuse me like this? I am not sleeping with Jane. God forbid. Why would I, a man of my status, disgrace myself with a small girl?” Chief asked.

But Deborah did not believe him. She picked up her laptop and placed it on the center table.

“You want to deny it? You want to act innocent? Watch this,” she said, opening the video. She pressed play, and the images filled the screen. Chief was shocked as he saw himself with Jane in bed.

Chief covered his face with both hands. “Oh my God! How did you get this? Who showed you this?” he asked in fear. Deborah’s voice was full of anger.

“Don’t ask me stupid questions. Just know that I have this video. I have proof that you have been sleeping with Jane. I can post it online right now. I can send it to your friends, your colleagues, your church members. Everyone will know how shameless you are. Unless you do what I say, this video will disgrace you forever. Is that what you want?” she asked.

Chief Okolo fell to his knees before Deborah. He held her gown. His face was sweating.

“Please, Deborah, I am begging you. Forgive me. It was a mistake. I don’t know what pushed me to do it. Please, don’t expose me. Don’t post the video. I will do anything you ask. Just forgive me,” he pleaded desperately.

“For me to forgive you, you must chase Jane out of the house. If you want peace in this home, if you want your secret safe, Jane must leave immediately.” Jane said.
