The Brave Hunter - Episode 12

Uche and the princes continued in the lovely adventure. Every day came with sweet activities. The princess was enjoying it and Uche never wants their bedroom activities to stop.

"What else does a man want than a princess who would love him, feed him and also give him bedroom food anytime he wants? I'm the luckiest man alive. I'm so lucky to have you.Uche tells the princess one morning.

"No, I'm the lucky one. I have always wanted a strong and brave man who would love me. Now, I'm lucky to have you my chambers all to myself. I love you so much and I don't care what people will say." The princess responded.

The palace was bright that morning when news came that Prince Awanti had arrived with his royal people. He is from a neighbouring kingdom and he wants to marry the princess. They came in fine clothes, holding gifts, and carrying the bride price for the princessDrums were beating, and servants were running up and down to welcome them. The king was happy because this marriage has been planned for a long time. Prince Awanti was from a strong and rich kingdom. The princess knew him before, but her heart has changed since she met Uche. Now, the thought of marrying Prince Awanti made her angry. She does not love him. Her father is just forcing her to marry him because he is a prince.

When the princess was called to her father's chambers, she walked in slowly. She saw Prince Awanti sitting with a smile, waiting for her greeting. The king's chiefs and elders were there, and the gifts were laid out.

"My daughter, here is the man you will marry." The king said with a smile.

"Father, I am not interested. I will not marry him because I don't love him." She said clearly. Everyone was shocked. The whole room became silent. Even Prince Awanti could not believe what he heard. The king's face looked angry, but the princess stood tırm.

Prince Awanti tried to speak. "Princess, is this a joke? We have planned this for many seasons. Our kingdoms are ready for this marriage. Why are you behaving like a child? You think it is easy to find a man like me? You are like I even came here to marry you" The prince said.

"I cannot marry an arrogant and proud man like you. It is not a joke, my prince. My heart belongs to someone else now. Another man has taken me from you." The princess said.

The king was angry, so he spoke next. "What do you mean? We have an agreement with his father. You cannot just change your mind." The king said.

"I am sorry, Father, but I cannot marry him." Prince Awanti's pride was wounded.

"Who is this man you speak of? My daughter, if you don't want this prince, who else do you want?" The king asked.

"I will tell you at the right time, Father. Today is not the day. When the time is right, I will reveal the identity of the man I want to marry. The princess responded to her father.

Prince Awanti's eyes burned with embarrassment. "If that is your decision, then I will leave and never return," he said angrily. He stood up, turned to his people, and ordered them to take back the gifts. They left the palace in anger, not even looking back. The king sat still, his face filled with shame before his chiefs. The air was tense as everyone left the chambers quietly.

That evening, the king was still very angry. He decided to enter the princess' room unannounced. Without knocking, he pushed open the door to the princess's chambers. Inside, Uche was with her, but the moment they heard the king's footsteps, Uche quickly ran and hid under the bed. The princess covered him with her bedsheet so he would not be seen. The king entered with anger in his eyes and voice.

"You embarrassed me before the whole kingdom today. Who is the man you want to marry?" The king asked. The princess smiled slightly.

"I will tell you when the time is right.She said. The king was angry.

"You must not bring a poor man or the son of a nobody into my palace. You are a princess. You will marry a man of royal blood. Do you hear me?" He said.

"The man I have chosen is brave, Father. I believe you will be proud of him when you meet him." She tells her father. The king looked around her chambers suspiciously. His eyes landed on Lucky the dog, who was lying near the bed.

"Whose dog is that?" the king asked suddenly. The princess replied quickly, "I bought a pet dog recently."

The king looked at Lucky the dog for a moment but seemed convinced. "Hmm, I see," he said, turning away from the dog. He did not know that the dog belongs to Uche, the man the whole kingdom was searching for. "Remember what I said. Do not disgrace this family again." With that, the king turned and walked out of the chambers. The princess waited until she heard the door close before she let out a deep sigh of relief. She quickly moved to the bed and pulled away the bedsheet.

"Uche, come out. He's gone.The princes said. Uche crawled out slowly from under the bed. Uche stood there, still breathing hard.

"Princess, this is dangerous. It is clear now that your father will never allow you to marry me. I am only a poor hunter. If he finds me here, he will kill me without thinking twice. I think it is better for me to go back to my village before things get worse.Uche said. But the princess shook her head.

"I will not let you go. You have done nothing wrong. You saved my life, and you have captured my heart. I cannot let fear take you away from me." The princess said.

"Princess, I am not from a royal family. Your father will never see me as good enough for you. If I stay here and he finds out, it might bring war or shame to your family. I should leave while I can." He said. The princess stepped closer to him. She spoke with her voice soft but strong.

"You think I care about titles or gold? I care about you. You risked your life for me. You suffered for me. That means more than all the riches of this world. I will fight for you if I must." The princess replied. Uche looked into her eyes and saw how serious she was.

"Princess, I am afraid for your sake,he said quietly. She reached for his hand and held it firmly.

"Do not be afraid for me. Be here for me. You are not going anywhereYou are the one I love. Trust me. This will be over soon.The made love again. Lucky the dog saw them and closed his eyes as if it understood what they were doing.
