Unexpected Wealth Episode 4

Chief Eze invited Victoria to his mansion one morning. He asked the driver to go and pick her up. When she arrived, the gateman opened the gate, and she walked in with quiet steps. Chief welcomed her warmly and asked her to sit.

"You raised a fine boy," Chief said. "Temi is sharp and responsible. I don't know how you did it without help." Victoria smiled and looked down. She replied, "I just did what any mother would do. It was hard, but I did my best."

Chief sat across from her and nodded slowly. "Tell me," he asked, "how did you manage all these years without my support?"

Victoria sighed. "I worked as a cleaner, a nanny, anything that brought money. I had no choice. I refused to beg. My goal was to give Temi a good life, even if it meant I suffered."

Chief looked at her closely. "You never tried to reach me?" She shook her head. "You gave me money to remove the baby. I didn't think you cared. I decided to raise him alone."

Chief Eze sat back and folded his arms. "It's not easy to do what you did," he said. "A lot of women would have dumped that child or used him to beg. But you trained him well. You did what many mothers and even fathers cannot do."

Victoria nodded. "I saw the child as my blessing. I protected him from pain, and I worked hard. Even when he asked questions about his father, I told him you traveled abroad. I didn't want him to grow up angry."

Chief stood up, went into the next room, and came back with a bunch of keys. "Victoria," he said. "This is the key to a house I bought for you. It's at Lekki. Worth over N20 million. You deserve to live well."

Victoria covered her mouth and looked at the keys. "This other one is for two jeeps. One Prado and one Lexus. I also hired a driver for you. I want you to be comfortable. You won't enter keke again."

Victoria started shaking her head in disbelief. She sat quietly and stared at the keys in her hand.

Chief Eze was not done. He handed her an envelope containing a cheque. "This is N50 million for you," he said. "You can use it to start any business or just relax. You deserve it for raising my son well. You gave me a son when I had none." Victoria fell from her chair and rolled on the floor.

"I was not expecting this, sir," she said. "My life just changed." Chief smiled. "You deserve more, Victoria. I'm just trying to make up for the years I was not around. You're a good woman."

Titi entered the room and hugged Victoria. "You did a great job," she said. "Now I understand why Temi is so respectful and smart. You trained him well. Thank you for bringing him to us. This house was always quiet, but now it feels like a home." Victoria hugged her back. "Thank you too. I thought you would reject me. I didn't know you would accept me and my son like this."

Titi smiled. "Any woman that can raise a good child deserves respect. I'm happy you kept him.

Temi came in from the kitchen and ran to hug his mother.

"Mummy, see this house! See what I'm seeing!" Victoria laughed and hugged him.

"I'm happy for you, my son. Always stay humble and wise."

Chief watched them and smiled. "From now on, you are no longer that poor woman from the past. You are now part of this family. This house is your house." Victoria looked around the mansion and smiled. "God bless you, Chief. You have changed my life. I will never forget this."

Later that day, they all sat in the dining room and ate together like one big family. The food was plenty, and laughter filled the air.

Temi looked at his mother and said, "Everything has changed, but I will not change. I will make you proud."

Victoria smiled, "Just remember where we came from and remain humble."

Chief Eze raised a glass of wine. "To new beginnings," he said. "To family." They all raised their glasses and echoed, "To family!" It was a day Victoria would never forget.

After the meal, Chief asked one of his workers to take Victoria to her new house and show her everything. The jeeps were already parked in front. She entered one and looked around like someone dreaming. When they got to the house, she walked into the compound and touched the walls. She entered each room one by one, admiring everything. "So this is how rich people live," she whispered. "God, thank you." That night, she slept in her new house like a queen. Her story had changed. Her pain was now in the past.
