Kitan had written an incredibly romantic message, expressing his eternal love for Eniola and his belief that they would always be together. I was impressed by the depth of his feelings and his willingness to declare them so openly. It was clear that he was confident in his love for Eniola and didn’t hesitate to show it.
This made me briefly consider how she had kept our relationship hidden, but I quickly dismissed the thought. It’s often easy for us to deceive ourselves, isn’t it?
I heard the toilet flush, and then Eniola came back and sat down with me. “I dated Kitan the last two years of secondary school,” she said. “We were in love. We knew it, and nothing could ever break us up.”
Eniola started to cry, so I hugged her. I loved the feeling of her against me. “So what happened?” I asked softly.
