Then I reflected on my own life and wondered what she would think of me seducing the underage sisters up the street. Or flirting with half the neighborhood. Or fucking the waif next door...

Fuck!...what was I thinking?...I just had unprotected anal sex with that skinny druggie just the week before... Christ

If I got an STD from her and gave it to Lisa I would simply have to kill myself.

I sat there in shock. I couldn't believe that wasn't on my mind before now. My heart was racing thinking about the possible consequences. I poured myself a short glass of scotch to calm my nerves... at 10:00 in the morning.

I paced around the house and tried to calm down. I started cleaning the kitchen, even though Denise and I had already cleaned a bunch after Friday's party. I collected the garbage from upstairs and down, and took it out to the trash bin on the side of the house.

I looked over at the house next door and the waif was sitting on their back steps, crying. There was yellow police tape across the back door. I put the bags in the bin and worked my way through the shrubs and walked over to her. She looked up at me when she heard the footsteps.

"Hey... I didn't mean to startle you."

......I didn't know what to say...somehow, I saw your boyfriend got arrested, or 'Are you going to jail too?" seemed a little heartless

"Oh, hi... I'm sorry.. I'm a bit of a mess right now."

'I can imagine. I saw Cliff... I mean... what's going to happen now?"

'I don't know. He's pretty well fucked. I'm safe since I'm not on the lease. I told them I was just visiting him and didn't know he was selling. Still, I'm not even supposed to be here now. I had to break in to sleep here last night, otherwise I am out on the street. The cops took all the stuff... everything, including the money, so I am broke.

'Do you have any friends or family you can stay with? What about your parents?"

"I don't really know anybody around here, at least no one that would take me in. I'm definitely the black sheep in my family... they all hate me. My dad's in prison, and my mom lives in Montana... a long way from here. I haven't spoken to her in over a year."

'How are you doing on food? Have you eaten anything today?"

"Not yet... I'm not really hungry. No pot and no booze is hitting me harder than no food." She laughed at herself on this comment.

"You should call your mother. Just tell her you are sorry for everything that has gone on, and you want to turn your life around. I'm sure she would help... as long as you haven't completely burned that bridge."

"It doesn't matter. Cliff's car was impounded, and I don't have any money to get to Montana."

"Don't worry about that. Just call your mom and talk to her. 111 pick up some stuff for you to eat. You need to stay healthy."

She looked at me and wiped her tears and managed a small smile.

I walked back to the house and grabbed my wallet and keys, and headed to the store... and the bank.

When I returned, she was no longer on the back steps. I carried the shopping bag up to the back porch and knocked on the door. She opened the door and sniled when she saw the bag I was carrying. I handed it to her over the yellow tape and she carried it back into the house. When she came back to the door I asked her if she had spoken with her mom. She had, and her mom was supportive of her starting over again at her house in Montana. I smiled widely, then handed her an envelope, "There is $500 in there, which should be enough to get you to your mom's place in Montana."

"Oh my God... seriously?" A wide smile swept across her face and her eyes teared up.

"You might want to take the bus to save some money, and use the rest to pay for food and stuff along the way."

"Oh my God... I can't believe you. How can pay you back?"

"Just promise me you won't blow any of this on drugs or alcohol.
