OOU announces temporary closure for Easter holidays
The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration.
In response to this declaration, the Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, has extended warm congratulations to members of the university community, especially Christians, on the occasion of the Easter celebration.
The Vice-Chancellor encouraged staff and students to reflect on and emulate the virtues of Jesus Christ, including forgiveness, humility, love, and sacrifice. He emphasized that the Easter period presents an opportunity to strengthen tolerance and promote peaceful coexistence within the university community.
To allow members of the university community fully observe the public holidays, the Vice-Chancellor has approved the temporary closure of the university from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6, 2026.
However, staff assigned to essential duties are expected to remain at their duty posts throughout the holiday period.
Normal academic and administrative activities will resume on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.
The Vice-Chancellor further urged all staff to continue contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of the institution.
