2027: Ex-Oyo council boss, Sharafadeen dumps PDP, declares interest in Reps race

A former caretaker Chairman in Surulere North Local Council Development Area in Oyo State, Hon. Sharafadeen Olatunji-Mohammed, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Olatunji-Mohammed made this declaration via a letter of resignation addressed to the PDP Chairman of his Ward 1.

The letter, dated 31 March 2026, was made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.

Waploaded reports that this comes just a few days after a former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Jumoke Akinjide, dumped the party. Link

In the letter, Olatunji-Mohammed announced that he left the PDP in order to realise his political ambition in another political party.

He added that he has finalised plans to contest the House of Representatives election in 2027.

The former council boss, when contacted by DAILY POST, noted that he will announce the political party where he will realise his ambition in due course.

He said that his interest now is to ensure that the best hand in the federal constituency represents the people.

Olatunji-Mohammed wrote in the letter:

“Today, I resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). I thank my leader, His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde, for the opportunity to serve as caretaker Chairman of Surulere North LCDA during Omituntun 1.0 and to also serve as a National Delegate of the PDP from Surulere Local Government in Omituntun 2.0.

“As you will all agree with me, politics is all about interest. My interest at this present moment is to ensure that our best hand in our federal constituency represents the rest of us. This is what I believe in, this is what I stand for, and this is what I will pursue to set our constituency on the path of greatness. So help me God.”
