“They Cannot See Beyond Their Plates”- Father EbubeMuonso Criticizes Igbos Backing City Boy Movement

Nigerian Catholic priest, Reverend Father Ebube Muonso, has expressed his disapproval of Igbos supporting the City Boy Movement.

Recently, businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chiefpriest, was seen campaigning alongside President Seyi Tinubu’s son during a visit to Owerri, Imo State. Chiefpriest had explained his decision to leave Peter Obi’s camp and align with the City Boy Movement.

In response, Father Muonso referred to Igbos backing the movement as “fools,” suggesting their support is driven solely by self-interest. He pointed out that while fuel prices continue to rise sharply, many people remain silent about the hardships.

The priest also highlighted that some religious leaders have failed to speak out on critical national matters. He noted that despite widespread hunger, the City Boy Movement continues to praise leaders who have not delivered on their promises. According to him, the current political system has failed, yet it still receives blind support.

Father Muonso added that authorities fear citizens who think independently, but those expected to hold leaders accountable including spiritual figures remain quiet. He described the voices of such leaders as being “in a coma” and criticized the City Boy Movement for pretending the system is functional despite knowing otherwise.

It is worth noting that other celebrities have also condemned the movement. Figures like Ratel President and Verydarkman (Martin Vincent Otse) have criticized Obi Cubana, Cubana Chiefpriest, and others for their involvement.
