Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture & Tourism Competition for tertiary institutions

In a significant move to celebrate local culture, the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture & Tourism, in collaboration with the University of Uyo, has invited tertiary students across the state to participate in the 2026 World Heritage Day Celebration.

The Theme: "Akwa Ibom Heritage Alive"

Students are encouraged to submit original pieces inspired by the theme. The competition accepts a diverse range of creative formats, including:

• Spoken Word & Monologues

• Essays & Short Stories

• Songs, Dance & Music

• Visual Arts & Crafts

• Other creative expressions

Prizes and Incentives

To support and encourage young talent, the following prizes have been announced:

• 1st Prize: ₦1,000,000

• 2nd Prize: ₦600,000

• 3rd Prize: ₦400,000

Key Dates and Timeline

• March 26, 2026: Competition Official Opening

• April 7, 2026: Deadline for Submissions

• April 18, 2026: Announcement of Winners

How to Enter

Eligible students can submit their work via email to solutions@furacollective.com. Alternatively, entries can be posted on Facebook or Instagram by tagging the Discover Akwa Ibom page and using the hashtags #IbomWorldHeritageDay and #DiscoverAkwalbom.

All submissions must be original, of high quality, and must not exceed a duration of 3 minutes. Entries will undergo a verification process to ensure compliance with student eligibility and originality standards.
