King Charles III Declares Nigerian Jollof Rice the Best at State Banquet
King Charles III has stirred reactions online after praising Nigerian cuisine during a state banquet held in honour of Bola Ahmed Tinubu at Windsor Castle.
In videos circulating online, the British monarch was seen giving a toast where he singled out Jollof rice, declaring his preference for the Nigerian version.
“The Jollof is only the best; Nigerian, of course,” he said.
The remark has since sparked excitement among Nigerians on social media, especially amid the long-standing debate over which country makes the best Jollof rice.
The Nigerian president and the First Lady, Remi Tinubu, are on a historic state visit to the United Kingdom. The visit marks the first state visit by a Nigerian leader in 37 years and the first to be hosted at Windsor Castle.
