UNIABUJA schedule of events for 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, on behalf of the Council, Senate, and the entire University Community, has officially announced the schedule for the institution's 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony.

The week-long event, scheduled to hold from Friday, 10th April to Saturday, 18th April 2026, will feature the award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees, and the conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees. All major ceremonies will take place at the University Convocation Square, Main Campus, starting at 10:00 am daily, unless otherwise stated.

Day One: Friday, 10th April 2026

• Juma’at Prayer

• Venue: University Mosque

• Time: 1:00 pm

Day Two: Sunday, 12th April 2026

• Inter-Denominational Church Service

• Venue: Chapel of Love, Mini Campus

• Time: 9:00 am

Day Three: Monday, 13th April 2026

• Press Briefing by the Vice-Chancellor

• Presenter: Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi

• Venue: Academic Conference Centre, Main Campus

• Time: 10:00 am

Day Four: Tuesday, 14th April 2026

• Faculty Innovation Showcase: Research Display, Patents, Students Projects, and Community Impact Projects at 10:00 am.

• Drug Awareness and Sensitisation Lecture: “High Today, Low Tomorrow: The Real Cost of Drug Abuse on Campus” by Brigadier Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Director General, NDLEA, at 3:00 pm.

• Vice-Chancellor’s Fireside Chat with First-Class Graduands: Faculty of Law Lecture Theatre at 5:00 pm.

Day Five: Wednesday, 15th April 2026

• Tree Planting: Led by the Best Graduating Students at the Faculty of Law Road at 10:00 am.

• Climate Change Lecture: “Carbon Credits from Tree Planting: Opportunities and Challenges for Nigeria’s Climate Goals” by Omoteniaye Majekodunmi at 11:00 am.

• Convocation Play: Performed by the Department of Theatre Arts at the Faculty of Law Lecture Theatre at 4:00 pm.

Day Six: Thursday, 16th April 2026

• Convocation Lecture: “Graduating into an AI Powered Fintech World: Opportunities, Challenges and Responsibilities”

• Guest Speaker: Olugbenga Agboola, OON (CEO, Flutterwave)

• Venue: Faculty of Law Lecture Theatre

• Time: 11:00 am

Day Seven: Friday, 17th April 2026

• Convocation Ceremony for the Award of First Degrees: Convocation Square at 10:00 am.

• Chancellor’s Dinner: Transcorp Hilton, Abuja at 6:00 pm.

Day Eight: Saturday, 18th April 2026

• Ceremony for the Award of Higher Degrees and Conferment of Honorary Degrees: Convocation Square at 10:00 am.
