UNIMAID programme of events for 44th Matriculation Ceremony
The University of Maiduguri has announced the programme of events for its 44th Matriculation Ceremony, scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Convocation Square.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Registrar, Admissions Office, matriculating students are expected to assemble as early as 7:00 a.m. and enter the Convocation Square in a formal procession. The procession will be led by students from the College of Medical Sciences, followed by the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environmental Studies, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Life Sciences, Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The programme shows that the arrival of Heads of Departments will take place at 8:30 a.m., followed by the arrival of the Vice-Chancellor, Principal Officers, Provosts and Deans at 9:00 a.m. The academic procession is scheduled to enter the arena at 9:45 a.m., after which the National Anthem and University Anthem will be rendered at 9:50 a.m.
At 10:00 a.m., the Registrar will formally introduce the occasion and invite the Vice-Chancellor to declare the ceremony open. This will be followed at 10:05 a.m. by the Vice-Chancellor’s Matriculation Address.
By 10:20 a.m., Provosts and Deans will present their students for the administration of the Matriculation Oath, after which the oath will be administered by the Registrar at 10:45 a.m. The oath requires students to solemnly swear to pursue learning diligently and to respect and obey the laws and constituted authorities of the University at all times.
The ceremony will be declared closed by the Vice-Chancellor at 11:00 a.m., followed by the University Anthem and the National Anthem at 11:05 a.m. The academic procession will then exit the Convocation Square in reverse order at 11:15 a.m.
Matriculated students are to remain behind after the ceremony to sign the Matriculation Register with their respective College and Faculty Officers.
The University Management has urged all students and officials to adhere strictly to the programme to ensure a smooth and successful matriculation ceremony.
