In a sudden development within the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) Students' Union Government, the Director of Socials for the 11th Tehila Republic, Comr. John Uwakmfon Godwin, has officially tendered his resignation.
In a letter dated March 2, 2026, addressed to the Senate and the entire students' body, Godwin announced his decision to step down from his executive role effective immediately. The letter, which was also routed through the Office of the President, cited personal commitments and future plans as the primary reasons for his departure.
"I have truly loved to stay longer and continue working for the growth and unity of our students' community, contributing my best to the progress of our Union. However, due to my future plans and personal commitments, I find it necessary to step down from my position at this time," part of the resignation letter read.
Godwin, popularly known as "Bling," served as the Director of Socials across both the Main Campus and Obio Akpa Campus. He expressed gratitude for the trust and support he received during his tenure and assured the student community that his commitment to their welfare remains unwavering, even in resignation.
The resignation letter was copied to all executives of the Students' Union Government.
As of the time of this report, the Students' Union Senate has yet to issue an official response or announce an interim replacement for the vacant position.
