Nigerian video director Femi Dapson recently opened up about how financial preparedness shaped the timing of his relationship with his wife, Simi Sanya.

He revealed that feeling financially stable gave him the confidence to pursue her. When they first met, Dapson admitted he didn’t feel ready to express his interest, as he believed starting a relationship without financial security would have been unwise.

Their paths crossed again at a wedding in Akure. By then, he said, his career had progressed, providing him with the assurance to strike up a conversation with Simi—a conversation that eventually led to marriage.

Dapson shared his experiences during The Love and Money Conversation organized by Meristem Nigeria, which examined the connection between finances and long-term relationships.

Calling himself a “gifter,” he emphasized that financial stability makes it easier for partners to show love and prevents potential misunderstandings. His story highlights how patience and careful preparation can help a relationship thrive once basic financial needs are met.
