UNIUYO notice on adjustment to the CBT mode of exams
The University of Uyo has announced a temporary adjustment to its Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination policy for the upcoming first-semester examinations. This decision comes as the institution continues the upgrade of ICT facilities at both its Annex and Main Campuses.
In an internal memorandum signed by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Dianabasi Eduwem, the University Management stated that the scaling down is necessary to align with the current capacity of the upgrading facilities.
The new examination mode guidelines for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 First Semester Examinations are as follows:
· CBT Mode: All Year 1 and Year 2 courses with a class size of 200 students and above.
· Non-CBT Mode: All Year 1 and Year 2 courses with a class size below 200 students.
· Non-CBT Mode: All courses from Year 3 to Year 5, regardless of class size.
Heads of Departments across the university have been directed to promptly identify and submit a list of all courses that meet the criteria for CBT (Year 1 & 2 courses with 200+ students) to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic). The deadline for submission is Tuesday, February 11, 2026.
This adjustment indicates a strategic shift to prioritize larger, foundational-level classes for the CBT platform while the university completes its ICT infrastructure enhancement project. The management has expressed appreciation for the cooperation of all staff and students during this transition period.
