UNIABUJA announces schedule for VC's tour across faculties

The Vice-Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University (formerly University of Abuja), Professor Hakeem B. Fawehinmi, is set to conduct a comprehensive two-day tour of the institution's academic units and facilities. The tour is scheduled for Monday, 19th, and Tuesday, 20th of January, 2026.


According to a memorandum from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office with reference UA/VC/ADM/001 and signed by Dr. Idoko Michael, the Deputy Registrar, the visit is aimed at engaging with various faculties, institutes, and centres across both the main and mini campuses.


Day One (Monday, 19th January 2026) – Main Campus Focus:

The first day will be exclusively held at the Main Campus, featuring a tightly packed schedule starting at 9:30 AM. The tour will commence at the Faculty of Science and proceed to visit key facilities including the University Library, and the Faculties of Law, Arts, Education, Social Science, Management Science, Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Agriculture. The College of Health Science and the University Health Centre are also on the itinerary, with the day's activities concluding by 4:00 PM at the Faculty of Agriculture.

Day Two (Tuesday, 20th January 2026) – Main and Mini Campus Tour:

The second day will begin at the Main Campus with visits to the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, and the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies. The Vice-Chancellor will then proceed to the Mini-Campus in Gwagwalada. There, he is scheduled to visit the Faculty of Nursing, the School of Basic and Remedial Studies, the GST Unit, and the Faculty of Geography, with the tour wrapping up by 1:30 PM.

The memorandum, addressed to the Provost of the College of Health Science, all Deans of Faculties, and the Director of the Institute of Education, urges the respective heads to take note of the schedule for information and necessary preparations.

This tour underscores the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to firsthand assessment and interaction with the university's academic and administrative structures.
