UNIUYO SUG update on traffic situation within the campus

The Office of the Students’ Union Director of Transport has issued an update regarding persistent traffic congestion on the University of Uyo campuses, particularly at the Town Campus, Annex, and the Permanent Site.

Despite the recent reopening of hostels, significant traffic build-up continues to be reported during peak hours—specifically between 8:00am and 10:00am in the morning, and around 3:00pm in the afternoon.

According to the release, the congestion is primarily due to heightened campus activities, increased student movement during these times, and insufficient availability of tricycles in the mornings and buses around key points.

The Students’ Union Director of Transport, Christian Umoh, has assured the university community that his office is collaborating closely with the University Management Directorate of Transport and relevant transport operators to resolve the issue.

"Strategic engagements are ongoing to improve vehicle availability during peak periods and to ensure a more efficient and coordinated transport flow across all campuses," the statement read.

Students and staff are appealed to remain patient and cooperative as efforts are made to alleviate the situation. Further updates will be provided as progress continues.
