Makinde yet to reconstruct Elebu road – Residents
Residents of Elebu in Ido local government area of Oyo State have said that Oyo State government under the leadership of Engineer Seyi Makinde is yet to reconstruct Elebu road contrary to insinuations.
Waploaded reports that the road is serving over 50 communities and over 250,000 inhabitants.
An online medium, not Waploaded, on Wednesday claimed that the road has been reconstructed.
But, residents of the area, who spoke with Waploaded on Wednesday, declared that the road has not been reconstructed as claimed in the online report.
The residents said that the Elebu road, which spans to circular road corridor was recently graded through community efforts.
They noted that all efforts to get the road reconstructed by the state government has proved abortive.
The residents then appealed to Makinde to ensure that he fulfils his promise.
A resident of the area, Engineer Adesokan Musa, noted that he was surprised when he saw the online report which claimed that the road has been reconstructed.
“I wish to tell you that Elebu road has not been reconstructed contrary to what was reported in the online medium.
“It is very unfortunate. So, some people can still claim that the road has been reconstructed when it has not been reconstructed. I see it as the handiwork of some people who are the enemies of the communities the road serves.
“At the same time, I want to appeal to Oyo State government led by Engineer Seyi Makinde to ensure that the road is reconstructed,” he said.
Another resident, Engineer Olanrewaju Yusuf, said that the road has become a source of concern for the residents, especially during the rainy season.
“We spend more money at the mechanic workshop almost every week. It is terrible. We appeal to the state government to fix this road. The governor has already promised us but we don’t know what is causing the delay.
“If you look at the road now, you will see that it has been graded. It is a community effort. We did it without the support from the government. We are appealing to the State government to come to our aid,” he pleaded.
