Prison inmates not abandoned citizens – Otti’s wife

Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti has said that inmates in the custody of Nigeria Correctional Service should not see themselves as abandoned or rejected citizens but those undergoing reformation for a more productive life.

Mrs Otti made the observation at Arochukwu local government area of Abia State when she visited the Arochukwu Correctional Facility in Abia State, reassuring the inmates in the facility of their worth and place in the Nigerian society

Mrs Otti, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinenye Nwaka, told the inmates that they have not been rejected or abandoned to faith.

She urged the Correctional Centre inmates to embrace positive transformation while inside the facility and to avoid actions that could lead to another offense.

The Abia Governor’s wife emphasized that correctional facilities do not exist as places of rejection, but as centres for reformation and preparation for a more productive life after custody.

The Abia Governor’s wife expressed confidence that the inmates would emerge from the process renewed, responsible, and better equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigerian society.

In her remarks, the Controller of Nigeria Correctional Service , Abia State Command, Mrs. Nwanyanwu Ifeoma, commended Mrs. Otti for her sustained compassion and unwavering support for inmates across the State.
