Kaduna State academic calendar for schools within the state, 2025/26 session

The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) has officially released the revised and approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session, applicable to all basic and post-basic public and private schools across the state.

According to the calendar signed by Professor Usman Abubakar-Zaria, Director-General of KSSQAA, the upcoming session is structured as follows:

2025/2026 Session Breakdown:

· First Term: Sunday, 7th September 2025 to Friday, 12th December 2025 (14 Academic Weeks)

· First Term Holiday: Saturday, 13th December 2025 to Sunday, 11th January 2026 (4 Weeks)

· Second Term: Monday, 12th January 2026 to Wednesday, 18th March 2026 (10 Academic Weeks)

· Second Term Holiday: Wednesday, 18th March 2026 to Sunday, 12th April 2026 (3 Weeks)

· Third Term: Sunday, 12th April 2026 to Friday, 24th July 2026 (15 Academic Weeks)

· Third Term (Long) Holiday: Saturday, 25th July 2026 to Sunday, 6th September 2026 (6 Weeks)

The authority also provided a preview for the first term of the 2026/2027 session, which is scheduled to commence on Sunday, 6th September 2026, and end on Friday, 18th December 2026, spanning 15 academic weeks.

In a circular addressed to key education stakeholders—including the State Ministry of Education, SUBEB, teachers' unions, and associations of private school owners—the KSSQAA emphasized that all schools in the state are required to adhere strictly to the calendar's provisions.

The notice included standard clarifications:

· National holidays will be observed as announced by the Federal or State Government.

· Should any alterations to the calendar become necessary, all concerned institutions will be notified promptly.

The release of this calendar is expected to enable schools, parents, and guardians to plan adequately for the upcoming academic year.
