BUK notice on rules governing the use of tricycle within the new campus

The Deanery of Student Affairs at the University has issued a new set of regulations governing tricycle (Keke) operations on the New Campus. The rules, signed by the Dean, Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, and endorsed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Musa, will take effect from 9th January 2026.

Key directives from the announcement include:

· A fixed fare of One Hundred Naira (N100) for any trip from the Main Gate to any destination within the campus.

· Operators are barred from dictating routes or refusing to convey passengers to any authorized campus location. The notice emphasizes that all students have the right to be taken to their desired on-campus destination from the gate.

· A maximum of five (5) TETFund tricycles are allowed to queue for passengers in front of Ramat Hall at any time.

· Passenger limits are set at a maximum of five (5) per tricycle. For departure from the Main Gate, a minimum of three (3) passengers is required, though emergency situations will be considered reasonably.

· The policy allows for "drop" trips (travelling without passengers) only when no passengers are available. If a single passenger is present, the trip can only proceed with that passenger's consent or as part of a shared ride arrangement.

· Strict compliance with all university traffic and safety regulations is mandated for all operators.

· Students are strongly warned against engaging in physical or verbal fights with tricycle operators. All grievances must be channeled through official means.

For complaints or reports, the university community is advised to contact Malam Abdulrashid on 08035887395, the Deanery of Student Affairs, or the Security Office.
