AFCON: Morocco’s Brahim Díaz makes history after scoring against Tanzania
Morocco international, Brahim Diaz, on Sunday made history after scoring a goal in his side’s 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, Round of 16 win against Tanzania.
A second-half goal from Diaz ensured the host nation defeated Tanzania 1-0 to qualify for the AFCON quarter finals stage.
Morocco will now face the winner between South Africa and Cameroon in the AFCON last-8.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Diaz’s goal against Tanzania means the Real Madrid winger has now become the first player in Morocco’s history to score 4 goals in a single AFCON run.
Diaz is now the leading top scorer at the AFCON with four goals to his name.
The 26-year-old, who is ahead of the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Ayoub El Kaabi, has been impressive for Morocco in the tournament so far.
